    Re: Exhaust polish?

    well what material is it?

if its chrome I just use meguiars chrome polish and lots of elbow grease. made sure to clean it or really well before trying to polish it otherwise you'll be fighting against yourself.

if its polished aluminum you could use some really high grit sand paper and wet sand it if the scuffs need it. all depends on the scuff it they are bad you could cut them down with 600 grit then step up to 1000, 1500, 2000 then polish and get a nice surface. if they are just minor then 1500 or 2000 with some elbow grease then chrome polish or buffing compound. If you do go that route make sure to only wet sand lol

    Re: Exhaust polish?

Its a 2bros c2 or c5 exhaust. Its stainless steel. So whats your solution for that..? My friend told me to sand it down, then polish it but i mean this would be my first polishing project.

    Re: Exhaust polish?

its really not hard just a lot of work. your best bet is to sand it. get a bucket of water couple peices of different grip sand paper and just sand away.

    pretty similiar to polished aluminum

I guess for this, google and youtube will be my best friends lol. I was hoping to find a local shop that supplies some exhaust polish stuffs. I could just order it online, but you know, its all about supporting local shops Us NEKie's gotta do that or else, vermont will be "vermont?"

honestly you really dont need much for supplies a bucket of water and few peices of sand paper. any decent auto parts store should have everything you need.

stainless is going to take forever to sand. I'd try a buffer. Not the kind for buffing a car.. The kind that looks like a bench grinder.

    Re: Exhaust polish?

ya that is definitely a faster way if you have access to a buffer

    Re: Exhaust polish?

Here's the best fix I know of. Polishing compound rubbed in with 000 steel wool. hand buff with a terry cloth towel. then mothers aluminum polish, hand rub the polish in with a cloth, it'll turn black, that's how you know it's working, then remove it with a high speed buffing wheel (like a grinder with a buffing pad on it, a cheapo car buffer from the hardware store does not have enough RPM's). to clean off excess and smudges, spray with windex and wipe down with paper towel. the thing will look out of the box brand new, trust me. Mothers aluminum polish twice a year will prevent that from happening.

side note: stay clear of the nameplate on the pipe, the buffer will take the paint off.

I agree with Korndogg. A buffing wheel will get the job done. All the hand work will take you days. I've done a few small pieces with a buffing wheel and they looked great after a couple hours of fiddling. Never had to remove deep scratches. That may take sanding. You can get a bench type grinder and a buffing wheel from Harbor Freight for cheap.

    Re: Exhaust polish?

I use Mothers billet polish on a VH RS3 can.I have had people who know the bike ask "when did you get the new pipe". As with the others cleaning well and elbow grease are the keys to great results. good luck.
