    Firsthand gap info?

Taking a day off this Monday to ride some gaps with a couple of friends before heading to Bike Night. Has anybody ridden 17, 125 or the App Gap since Sunday? Seems like access might be a problem with 100 closed in parts though the gaps all seem to be open. Any firsthand information about current road conditions would be much appreciated.

Don't know if most are aware of the state website, but it's a pretty useful tool for trying to figure out the current road situation. http://www.511vt.com/

No first hand, other than a few coworkers that are stranded. Bob at motorcycle-vermont posted this http://motorcycle-vermont.com/vermon...d-closure-map/

No kidding... I'll actually need to plan a ride based on it.

I'm heading out tomorrow to see what roads I can get to. Tried Brandon Gap yesterday and it was closed.

Yeah, 125 is closed where it meets 100. Totally gone.

Intersection of Route 73 and Route 100 in Rochester VT:

Intersection of Route 125 and Route 100:

Route 4, Mendon VT (goes over Killington):

App Gap is open, BUT, you have to take a detour to get onto it from 116. About 2 miles north of the App Gap turn off is the detour. It's about 5 miles of dirt road and you come out just above Memorial Park. The road washed out there when the culvert got plugged. Pretty much had the road to myself and I spent a few hours playing near the top.Brandon Gap is still closed. Middlebury Gap is open but I didn't go up it so I don't know what kind of shape it's in. I was told there's a lot of gravel where they filled the holes in the road.

They were reporting that one of the bridges on 125 (Middlebury Gap) had failed and they were going to bring a temporary bridge in ASAP. I don't have firsthand info on that; I did ride from Killington to Moretown and back via the Route 100 corridor this weekend, but I didn't ride any of the gaps.

App Gap is open and OK. Rode from Route 2 in Montpelier to Route 100, through Waitsfield and over to 116 yesterday. Both directions on 116 are clear now too.

Ok, that picture of the washed out cemetary and the exposed coffins officially creeped me out.

Yesterday, a buddy & I rode Rt. 17 from Rt 100 up & over App Gap to Gore Road. It was just fine (i.e. fine meaning, the pavement conditions are what we have come to expect...Vermont Normal) , I didn't have time to linger at the Picnic Table Curve because it was getting dark, but I will try for an earlier start next time. On a great weather day like yesterday, it would have been nice to sit & watch the inevitable parade of vehicles heading up to the top of the gap.

In the interests of full disclosure, we rode from Rt 12a at Roxbury over the Warren Mountain Road to the East Warren Road to Rolston Road to Rt 100 to Rt17 to the AppaGap over to the Gore/Hunnington/Richmond Road then back home over roads of little interests to this thread...(link) It was a good day to ride.
