So who wants to help me out?

As some of you know I'm stuck out in Idaho for the time being. I will be coming back for good sometime after the middle of July (hopefully before September, I'll know for sure hopefully within the next couple of months). The problem is that I currently don't have anywhere to stay. I'll be looking at potential apartments online, but there is no way I'm going to choose a place without seeing it first hand.

That means that I need a couch to sleep on. It shouldn't be for very long (if it is going to take longer than a week to get into an apartment I will make other arrangements, might even just camp it out for a little while if it is warm enough). I will keep almost all of my stuff at another friend's house (no place to sleep, the house is packed, except for the basement where my stuff is), so I shouldn't take up too much space. I won't mooch food and I'll contribute in whatever way you deem fit (I can go food shopping, buy you beer, give you cash, whatever).

I'd prefer to be as close to Burlington as possible, but obviously I won't be too picky since you'd be doing me a HUGE favor. I'm trying to weigh all my options right now, and I thought it would be worth at least asking you all.

Edit: I can throw this in off topic, but I wanted to appeal to the VT bike nighters so I thought it was fitting. To make it motorcycle related: I would love to have a place to keep the SV too (completely optional)

If this was last year I'd let you stay with us but with the new kid I don't think that will work.

You're welcome to crash in my living room for a few days, but the accommodations are sparse -- chairs, not couch, so you'd have to sleep on the floor. It's carpeted, at least.

That wouldn't be a problem, I just bought some good camping supplies (including a sleeping pad). I'll keep that in mind. Thanks Mark!

Late July to Mid August you can crash at my place Keith...though its 30 min from B-Town, but I got a nice futon and "garage/bike room" to put the SV!
Anything after mid August though is out, planning on going back to school.

Good roads round me though, could make up for the commute.

keith, we've got a spare bed and a 2-car garage. i'll keep my car outside, and you can park the sv next to the f4i, not a problem at all. im in lincoln, about 45 mins from burlington. oh yeah, bed's a queen size, plenty of room! let me know if interested. take care!

Thanks guys! Once I know more details I'll get everything figured out. All I know right now is that July 18th is the earliest I can leave, but they may ask me to stay longer. I still haven't decided if I even want to stay longer though, so who knows what will happen.

Re: So who wants to help me out?

So I talked to my manager today, and hopefully July 31st is going to be my last day here, which means that I should be back around August 3rd-5th depending on how long it takes me to drive across the country. That means I still get at least a month or two on the bike! (assuming it still works) I know Mark, I can ride until December, but I've become a wuss and I need to readjust to the cold slowly.

Conveniently, you'll have four months to readjust to the cold.

Re: So who wants to help me out?

    Good news everyone!

So I got my official last day at work, which is Friday July 17th (2 weeks early woo!). I may or may not leave on that day. I might wait and get a good nights sleep and head out early on the 18th, or I might be able to take some vacation days and leave even earlier. I can't wait!

The even better news is that it looks like I probably won't need a couch to sleep on. My current office mate is leaving on July 30th, and his condo is currently empty. He has offered to let me stay there until he gets back or until I get a place, whichever comes first. If I don't find an apartment by the 30th (which would suck), then I may need a couch for a night or two (assuming it would be an August 1st apartment). We can work out those details in person, if that situation arises.

I really really appreciate all of the offers that I've gotten. Especially Tyler (and Bill)'s offer to prep the bike so that I don't have to wait to get back in the saddle. Too bad I don't know where I left my other key...and I don't trust UPS with my only spare, so unfortunately the bike will have to wait to get her TLC.

Cool, if you do end up needing crash space for a night or two, the offer stands.

See you in a couple weeks.
