What I want to know is who's going to call me in the wee hours of the morning this winter to have me come pull them out of a ditch? Two years in a row and then you leave the state for a warmer climate? If you need a pull this winter you'll have to give me a couple days notice so I have a chance to get there first...

    Re: Moving to Arizona!

Alright, so after some decent seat time in the truck, I am here. Destination Tucson!!! Brit (gf) was my co-pilot and navigator, and we had a crazy but great time! The plan was to spend the first night in Erie, PA and then straight shoot it to Oklahoma City to see Brit's mom, chill for a few days, and make the 16 hour drive to AZ Sunday.
It took us about 10hrs to PA, and 22 hours to Ok! We had a TomTom GPS, which got us lost, we got hungry at around hour 19, so we stopped at Sonic and I had my first Double Sonic Burger with Cheese!!!!! Video documentation.
Then we explored some back roads around Oklahoma City, then made it to the house around 3am! We recovered for a few days and hung out with the family. We decided that driving through the night to Tucson from Ok was not the best idea, espeically on a Sunday. So we went to bed early, and got up...early, around 1am. Left at 3am, ran out of gas in po-dunk Texas, drove into a 30-40 knot headwind, and made it to Tucson at 6pm Sunday! The truck held up great, the trailer did well, the bikes stayed put, and I ate more fast food in 3 days than I have in the last 3 years!
Stoked to finally be here and moved in. Went for a cruise around town with my room mate (Steve) tonight for my first ride in Tucson. He hasn't ridden a bike since '95, and now he wants to buy the Kawi! When I worked at the VTANG, I got 3 guys to buy bikes, and since I am the vehicle/motorcycle safety monitor, I'm going to try and get guys who have ridden in the past, to get back into it the right way!
Looking forward to some good rides, getting into the scene out here!

Ummm, if you wouldn't mind holding off on selling the Kawi until AFTER November that would be great for me... See you in a week or so.

    Cheers!

Glad you made it to Tucson safely. I'm the old dude from Tucson that you met at Bike Night before you left. You probably already know this but there is a Sportbike Night at Mama's Pizza on Speedway Blvd on Wednesday nights (I think, could be Thursdays...it's hell being old!!). I work with a guy at Raytheon who is originally from Boston who can hook you up with where to ride. It's mostly a younger crowd (he's late 20's, maybe 30) He rides an RC51 and goes to the Mama's Pizza bike night. He also does practice nights at the mx track and rides the desert on a dirt bike.

There is a good Vintage Bike night every other Wednesday night at Barrio Brewery that's good if you want to check out some old school bikes. They welcome all bikes old or new. The local Ducati club comes out to it every now and then.

1st and 3rd Thursday is the Dual Sport bike night at the Red Garter Saloon on Speedway. Great bunch of guys and gals. All ages represented at that.

    Good luck on the job.

Hey Freak! Made it to AZ today...I'll be in touch about this coming weekend. My dad has his 1200GS down here. not a sportbike, but we could meet up. Or, I could perhaps take a day trip to Tucson and ride the Kawi or something. Hope you and Britt are getting settled.
