anyone near burlington have a trailer (for a car)

    Hey Guys,
Ok, not bike related, but I need help.
I'm entering a car in the demo derby on Wednesday. I need to get the thing from downtown burlington to Essex Junction (5.7 miles). Anyone have a car trailer I can borrow? Or maybe a friend with a tow truck?
I just found out AAA won't do it. So I called a couple of places and they charge $60 or more.

I'd probably take my chances and try to make the 6 miles without passing a cop (sorry jcbell).

    And I'd use Gates E or F.

Driving it over is exactly what I'm trying to avoid. The thing stands out quite a bit. Its not like I can casually cruise through town without turning every head along the way.

Yeah, there is no way he will make to the fair without getting nailed. This thing doesn't have any glass left, which is kind of very noticeable. The bright green spray paint where the headlights used to be isn't very subtle either. Good luck man.

I can see about using a trailer from work (in Richmond) if it can happen after 5:30 and I can haul it. Would that time frame work for you?

I have a tow rope (specific for towing) and legally (correct me if I am wrong though this is what SB PD told me) if the car starts and can move under it's own power, whether or not it is legal to drive, you can tow it with another vehicle. Done it plenty of times. Welcome to the rope if you want then just get a second person to be in and steer the crash car

Let me know if you guys do the tow rope route... I'll follow and take pictures and call 911 if necessary.

I'd love to see a setup like that rolling through Burlington. Maybe use a lawn tractor as the tow vehicle to complete the picture?

lol, you don't want to tow the car so much as you want to drive it behind the other one with a rope attached to make it legal like lol.

C'mon this tow rope can't really be legal. I'd totally do it if it was, but I just don't believe it.

Trouble, I have to be there at 5pm on Wednesday, so that's probably too late. We could probably tow it over there today, but that could interfere with any bike night plans you may have. If you're ok with that, I'm all for it.

Re: anyone near burlington have a trailer (for a car)

    pm sent.

I used to race in the Enduro over at Oxford Plains Motor Speedway in Maine. Some of the hillbilly approaches to getting the cars to the track were great! My favorite was the guy who brought his car to the track on the back of a log truck. He used the grapple to unload it...

My worst move was when I put a car in the back of my father's stakebody truck (the rear wheels half on the bed, half hanging off) and put another car on a trailer behind. Drove over from Vermont that way. Pretzled the drive shaft by Bretton Woods and managed to convince the AAA tow truck driver to pull the whole rig (trailer, cars, and all) the remaining 80+ miles to the track.
