Saw a police chase a bike today

A little over an hour ago I happened upon a police chase in progress of a blue sport bike (looked like a Kawasaki ZX-9R). The guy in the sportbike hauled ass through a stop sign and almost embedded himself in the front bumper of my Ford Ranger as he was trying to get away from a Walpole NH cop (keep in mind, this was in Vermont)...the cop followed him over from NH across the bridge. This all happened on route 5 in Westminster, VT.

I asked my family if they saw the guy go by and they said he flew by their house at over 100mph, and 20 minutes later an ambulance went by, followed shortly after by a medevac helicopter.

Stay tuned to the local news, I have a feeling we're going to hear about this one, and not in a good way.

Almost think that it's not worth the trouble of sending a helicopter. Let Darwin do the work.

Oh I see, the time post on the thread said yesterday but really it was today. NESR is on a different time schedule than New England. Who woulda thought.

Hey I'd rather wreck a bike (twice) and get a felony evasion than get a ticket for driving without a license too.

    Vermont motorcyclist charged after crashes

    Updated Sept. 21, 8 p.m.

    Published:Monday, September 21, 2009
A motorcyclist who allegedly led police in two states and several towns on a high-speed chase this afternoon has been arrested on a charge of driving without a license.

Ira Bruso, 27, was arrested after crashing his 2005 Suzuki GSXR 750 in Westminster, Vt., then getting back on the bike only to crash again a short while later, according to Windham County (Vt.) Sheriff's Deputy Dana Shepard.

Shepard arrived at the scene to assist the fire and rescue crews that were sent to the crash. There, he learned from Bruso that the Springfield, Vt., man's license had been suspended, he said.

Bruso was cited to appear in court on the charge on Nov. 17, and released to the custody of his father because of his injuries. He refused medical treatment, Shepard said.

He allegedly engaged police from Chesterfield, Keene and Walpole in a high-speed pursuit on Routes 9 and 12, according to Shepard.

That's the one. I'm surprised that very few local news stations picked up on this considering it's very rare that there's a police chase in this area.

I couldn't find the article either, but the blotter had this little gem...

Also Sunday, in Hancock, 36-year-old Chhofun Chhoun, of Lowell, Mass., was taken to Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough with a shoulder injury after a motorcycle crash on Route 137. Chhoun told police he swerved to avoid an acorn in the road, according to Hancock Police Chief Andrew M. Wood.

Do people think before they blurt things out? Seriously, who is actually going to tell someone they swerved to avoid an acorn in the road?

That's like my coworker who said he pulled up his emergency brake to swerve around a chipmunk in the road, after all, that's what the emergency brake is for, right? Emergencies?

Re: Saw a police chase a bike today

A woman is caught speeding on the freeway, and is pulled over by a traffic cop. He says "Ma'am, you were going 85 miles per hour, can I see your driver's license?" "I don't have one," says the woman, "it was revoked for reckless driving." "I see," says the policeman. "Then will you please show me your vehicle registration?" "I don't have that either because the car's not
mine," says the woman. "Whose car is it, then?" asks the policeman. She answers, "It belongs to the man I killed this morning and chopped up in pieces, put in plastic bags, and loaded into the trunk. I was just going to dispose of him." The policeman, shocked, says, "You just stay where you are, I'm calling reinforcements." Soon the captain comes, and asks the woman, "License please?" The woman, politely, says, "Certainly, here it is," and hands over her license. "Can I see the car's registration, please?" asks the captain, and the woman says, "Certainly," and hands it over to him. He then asks, "Would you mind if I looked in your trunk?" "Not at all," says the woman, and pops the trunk. He looks in and it's empty. "Excuse me," says the captain, "but my officer her told me you had no license, no vehicle registration, and that you had stolen the car, killed its owner, cut him into pieces and loaded him in your trunk!" The woman answered, "Really? I bet the damn liar said I was speeding, too!"

Personally I would have gone with hedgehog, cat, deer... something that not being there anymore wouldn't be surprising and would be big enough that there is some chance someone might believe you would have swerved.

Anyways....anyone know why that article was taken down? Too much fact and not enough 'suspect' and 'alleged' (2x) maybe?
