Not another random crash thread, this time it is one of our own

I'm hoping Jason (jcbell) can shed some light on the final destination of the bike, as I have no idea where it ended up. It didn't look terrible, but since he was in the process of selling it, I'm assuming he would rather just take the check and not have to ever see that bike ever again. If he wants to fix it, though, then we will definitely make it happen.
I'll look into it tomorrow. I'm also going to stop by and see how he's doing sometime during the day. If I come up with anything I'll see what we can do. If its part of an investigation, it might not be so easy but I will keep you posted and help in any way that I can.

BTW, where was this emergency pouch? It's not a bad idea to have. I freely give any one of you consent to call anyone if I'm ever in that situation. The hospital is super touchy about things like that because of their HIPA rules.

Mark, I'm terribly sorry to hear this. Those ortho boys up there know me well. I woke to a phone call and VM from Parker this morning at 4am...certainly not gonna return his call then.

Coincidentally I'm headed home this weekend...I need a break from this place and this is my first two days off in a row since starting...my next weekend off is October...ugh.

I'll answer any questions you may have when I get there. Of course JBell is right, HIPPA protects your information and since I'm not officially affiliated with FAHC anymore, I may (and should legally) hit a stone wall if I try to find anything out other than what I'm told by Mark, Parker, Keith, Justin, JBell etc...

I'll likely stop by on Sunday morning, unless I hear that is a bad time.

Feel better soon, even if it means pushing the pain button or calling the nurse for another hit of Dilaudid....This is what that stuff is made for...Rest well my friend, you've got some healing to do.

Parker, I'll be in touch about coordination.

It's a little pouch that sticks to your helmet. At Calabogie they were handed out and highly encouraged to use. You write your contact info on a piece of paper and stick it in the pouch. If you get hurt they know who to contact. It's a great idea, just like the air bags though. They only work if the EMT's know where/how to use them.

I took a label maker and put my name, blood type, allergy info (ie none), wife name and her cell # on the back of my helmet.

I hope not to use it....

I stopped in and saw mark this evening. He was on his way to the OR. He seemed to be pretty coherent and appreciated the visit. Glad to see him in good shape, I was worried about his head! A broken leg heals better than a broken head.

    http://wingstuff.com/pgroup_detail/2...ories%2Fdes%2F That's what he had

Glad he made it into the OR, it wasn't guaranteed that he would get in today. Surgery means he can sit up tomorrow, which was really bothering him a lot tonight. He was very uncomfortable being stuck in traction and we almost had to yell at him to stop trying to get up, which is to say not a thing has changed haha.

    Mark,

I arrived in Burlington late last night and was SHOCKED at this news. Hope you are doing well and I'm planning to come by the hospital after work today if that's OK. I feel your pain as you know. Great bunch of Dr's there so I know you're in good hands. Ask for Lee at the Ortho PT place if that's where you go. He's a crack up. Don't know if he works on lower body stuff.

I was really looking forward to Bike Night, Won't be the same without you.

Just saw the thread...Keith, thanks very much for making the calls and being the friend you are. It's a very scary idea of getting in a serious accident when you're riding solo, and not having friends and family notified immediately. Thanks for the updates as well. We all accept these risks when we ride, it's just surprising to hear, especially to a rider of Marks caliber.
Mark, thank goodness you're doing well, heal up and get back in the saddle quick (cause we all know you won't take it easy once you start PT!).
BBN Crew, you guys are awesome, wish I could be there for a visit. Keith, thanks again man.

He still isn't allowed to sit up, but he is going for an MRI at 5 to look at his lower back. If the results come back ok then he will be cleared to finally sit. His surgery went well, but they have a few things to keep an eye on. I wasn't able to go down there today, but he had a lot of visitors (big thanks to Jason Hoyt and Jason Bellavance for their help, along with Parker for helping his mom out and Justin for setting up the donation stuff, and David too). Thanks for all of the support, it means a lot to Mark and to all of us.

Just got back from visiting Mark. Considering all he's been through...the guy looks good. He still has a sense of humor. Talked with him and his mother for awhile. His only complaint is not being able to sit up but he's already making headway. It's all good but prayers never hurt.

They still wouldn't let him sit up after the MRI? He's going to sit up soon regardless of what they say.

Any news on this? As of around 3PM today, the nurse said MRI at 5PM, and then he would be able to sit/stand if they cleared his spine for bearing weight. I haven't heard anything since then.

I was there when they came to take him for the MRI. It was after 7:00pm. I left before they took him out so don't know the results. He's definitely uncomfortable from being flat on his back mainly from not being able to elevate his feet. I was on the same floor (orhto) back in November and can relate to his discomfort. Drugs are a good thing at this stage.

+1 and yeah, gotta hand it to him for the sense of humor. His mom and him going back and forth were pretty amusing too. Though when he said "we'll see" when someone commented on his riding season being over and his mom retorted that she intended to "Get him into shape and get him to give up motorcycles" I thought it best to steer clear of that part of the conversation haha. Good old Mark! He's going to have a good amount of recovery to go through but he's strong and I have no doubt that all of the crew here and at bike night encouraging him and visiting him helps.
