I'm looking to get some ideas for how to fix my fuck up. Coffee table looks like this (well, it's supposed to):
The glass broke from one corner to the middle, so three corners are still intact but the glass is really sharp so that doesn't do any good. I got the table for super cheap, so I really don't want to spend much money on it to fix it.
I might try to find a sheet of plexiglass or lexan, but the original glass was approximately 27" X 48", so that might get pricey.
How thick should the glass be do you think? I can get a 1/4" sheet for under $40, but I feel that is way too thin.
Could I epoxy the glass back together? It was a clean break, but the crack would be load bearing, so I have a feeling it won't hold. Any special tips or tricks to try?
Would a wood replacement top look decent? I don't even know where to get nice wood like that though, so any suggestions there?
Anybody have anything lying around that they think might work?
