Sam is currently breathing on his own and they are in the process of trying to ween him off the heavy pain meds so that he can wake up and tey can evaluate him further. Still hoping for the est. Regards, Jake

Got an update on Sam - he is a friend of a friend:

"Sam is making good progress. He started to respond to Dr.'s questions and opened his eyes the second week. He had a concussion and a stroke added to his other injuries, and his left side was paralyzed. However, he is starting to get motor skills back now and has been transferred to Fanny Allen for rehab."

My mom will be getting an update from Sam's future mother-in-law this afternoon. She'll call me as soon as she hears how he's doing. I'll post up when I get the report.

Here is what I found out about Sam's progress:

"Sam has been at the Fanny Allen campus in rehab for the last few weeks. He's doing very well, getting movement back in limbs on left side. He did have a stroke as well as a concussion and broken bones. He is talking and can make phone calls, and is learning to walk again. They started the walking training by putting him in a suspended harness - don't know if he is still doing it that way, but the Dr.'s say he's doing very well. His vision is still not quite normal but expected to improve."

Continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers!

My mom sent me another update on Sam:

He's been at home for a few weeks now and is getting around walking, still going to rehab for some mild paralysis from a stroke. He is expected to recover in time and begin working again.
