So the day started off great. 11 bikes left the Mobil at about 11:45 and promptly went to Papa Nicks for Brunch. (we was hungry). With bellies full we started our rip. It was decided to just go up over 17 and back then got to the Museum to see the exhibit.
Weekend leaf peeper traffic was in full swing and there was not much open road. Even pulling over to gain some distance on the cars in front of us only temporarily helped.
Coming onto the upper section of 17 with the 1st hard right and the road ahead clear, I set up for corner and threw it in, going a little wide I straightened out for the straight and got a flash of yellow in my mirror. Only Tyler was wearing yellow and my mind did not allow me to think he could have crashed. I continued my romp to the top with Keith just behind me. At the top I thought it odd that no one was behind us as I was not going that quick. We made our way back down and we found our group on the sides of the road in that first corner.
Tyler had went off the road and his bike went about 50 feet into the woods. Hitting a large birch tree. He was ok and they had already dragged his bike out of the woods.
I'll let him explain what he thinks happened. We waited for one of the guys Dad's to come up with his truck, Loaded the bike and said goodbye to Tyler. The we went to the Full Throttle exhibit. From there we split up. Some going on to the Bar-b-q while otheres headed home.
Beautiful day, great bunch of guys, traffic sucked, Tyler crashing sucked, the exhibit was awesome. Thanks everyone. To Tyler, A new 1000rr is only 8k

I'm going to start a new thread to say thanks for all the help/support....but here is what happened in my mind as I remember it:
Knew I was coming into the corner a little hot, but apparently Keith (in front of me) was as well...as he braked and went wide. I ended up too close to him, went wide as well and tried to ride it through, but the lean angle was too much and the rear tire slid out from under me.
I remember sliding across the pavement seeing the bike in front of me (felt like i was sliding for 20min) and instantly being mad before I even knew where/how I was going to end up (continuing sliding into the woods). But yes, the bottom line is it could have been alot worse, and I'm fine with some minor rash.
Thanks again to EVERYBODY for the awesome help and encouragement. Big thanks to Anthony and his dad for the lift.
Once MotoFreak gets back from the track on Wednesday I'm going to steal the Kawi and we're going for a ride.![]()

Bummer about TS crashing. I talked to him this afternoon, and he's more pissed than anything. Glad he is ok, thats a dangerous place to crash! (Is there a 'safe' place?)
Bummer too that ya'll decided to hit 17 instead of the planned Route. I might even head out that way again if anyone is interested.
Turned out to be an awesome afternoon...I was def. jealous, sorry to let down those of you that thought I was going to be there.
Hope the BBQ was great too, and that the ride home was not too cold!
Heck Yea Son!

Yup, it sucked in a big way to see Tyler go down like that, but I'm really glad it wasn't as bad as it could have been, as speeds were relatively slow. I was 4th in line behind Doc, Keith, and Tyler coming into that corner, and saw him go down in a spray of sparks and dirt as he went off the road. Luckily there was no oncoming traffic and he missed the trees, but I point fixated on the downed bike and went really wide as well...
Glad you're alright man. I think doc and the guys may have gotten more, but here's my pics from the day!
Post-wreck:
The tree got the brunt of it, including Tyler's initials:
Pretty good day overall guys, thanks!

I heard about Tyler's crash as soon as I pulled up to Jason's house on the way home from my Kancamagus ride (and yeah, the leaf peepers were out in full force -- apparently today was "hold up traffic" day and no one told me). I was glad to hear he wasn't hurt.
340 miles today; good ride despite all the asshats going 5-10 under the speed limit.

i really hope i didn't contribute to the crash at all. we came into the first corner, and i started to fixate on Doc a bit as he started to run wide, plus i wanted to make sure that if something did happen to him that i wouldn't follow suit so i scrubbed some speed and just threw the sv into the corner as hard as i could. i'm really glad you are doing ok, and if there is anything that i can do, just let me know.
