What hours are convenient for you? Do you balance too?

I just purchased a new rear online and need it mounted, but I'd like it balanced also.

Yea, I can static balance (which has been race tested).

Fri-Sun if you are going to wait... anytime for drop off/pick up.

Thanks Kitt for the offer & reminder. One of these days I will make it down to your neck of the woods & see our wondrous garage & shop. You are near Vergennes? (I will be killing time Thursday afternoon after dropping my daughter off near Kingsland Bay), probably going to visit CycleWise for the heck of it.

I am near vergennes (and working in vergennes). I'll be at work tomorrow, if you eat in town or find yourself kicking around later than 5ish, give me a ring (802-777-3777).

What's she doing in Kingsland Bay? One of our fav. spots on the boat.

Cyclewise doesn't do yamaha, so they are dead to me... But kidding aside, the guys are GREAT. I just dropped off a "thank you" gift card for a couple of pies in thanks for them hooking me up with a shipping crate for my trials bike. They have a booth at the field days fair, so the shop may be a bit understaffed when you go.

My daughter is working at a kid's summer camp (Camp Greylock) near there. Not quite sure what may schedule is for the afternoon. Dropping off my daughter at 1pm at Camp Greylock, then goofing off for a few hours because I don't' want to head back to town & my office especially if the weather is nice. Not sure if I will be around Vergennes after 5pm, because I have to go back to Greylock for the Family Night festivities.

But if I am kicking around/Vergennes 5ish, I will give you a buzz.

Sadly... my day job & sense of responsibility have interfered with my plans to goof off riding around Addison Country this afternoon...just a quick trip to bring my daughter to Kingsland Bay & back to my virtual office to get back to nerdy things...

Same location, or no? You're a drive for me, but I'll be bringing my tires to you from now on for as long as you are doing them. Appreciate the good work!

A friend of mine just got a 2008 ninja 250 and will need new tires mounted as well if you want me to point her your way.

Thanks, same spot... I'm not sure if you're buddies with tyler, but he works with me now and lives up your way. I am also in Burlington a couple times a week, if you can go a few days without wheels.

How's your tire feel? A believer in static balancing?

tyler... santerre? I know him a bit from bike night.. I don't mind driving them down though.

Yes, definitely a believer. It has been great. My wheel weight must have disappeared sometime previously as it has been fine since you re-balanced.

Let me know if you're friends with Monkey John, I told him I'd mount tires backwards for any of his friends for free.

anyone else here ever try bead balancing? airsoft beads, throw a handfull or two in depending on how big the tire is and how concerned you are of extra weight.

worked incredibly well in my SV, had it in front and back.
it is now in the rear of my sprint.

havent ridden the sprint yet but the sv was smooth as glass, well the tires at least

I use dynabeads in the rear tire of the Sprint since it is a SSSA and I don't feel like buying the stuff needed to balance it. Haven't had any issues at all, and I will likely be switching to dynabeads for the front too.

We're kind of getting away from kitt's topic of wanting to help people change tires.. but I don't understand how those products work. I would think that if there was a heavy spot between the wheel and tire, that all the beads would tend to migrate there and make it worse. But hey, if it works..
I'm also curious why they mention every vehicle except the passenger car...

    Re: Tire Changing, Addison.

well I consider it sorta in line with changing tires, balancing is the hardest part really, this saves that whole deal.

never used the actual dynabeads. I use airsoft pellets, the transparent green kind. when I replaced the rear tire in the SV last, the old beads were still fine and I reused them. there was a very fine rubber dust, which may upset some people, but there was also 14,000mi on the tire....

only problem with my airsoft beads is you HAVE to break the bead to install them. when I forgot to install them first on the sprint wheel, I was very angry at myself. then I figured out the 2x4's and workbench method and was happy again with 3 handfulls in there.

Why is balancing a tire difficult?

With the SSSA, there is no axle I can use to balance with my jackstands (which is the method I use for the other bike and the front tire), so I would need a cone type balancer with the correct adapter, and I don't feel like spending that kind of money.

I also reuse the dynabeads (I toss the ones that get coated in rubber), though getting them into the angled stems can be tricky. I prefer to just dump a bunch in before mounting the tire.

+1 on Dynabeads. I've been using them front and rear. Balancing with weights isn't difficult, but Dynabeads are even easier, and work great.
