Air bag suit! That is worth more than my bike lol.

I ordered oil this morning. That was it.

    Expensive=Yes
Not having/reducing the risk of a broken collar bone=priceless

I would honestly rather spend a bit more on safety gear to minimize the risk, than take a trip to the ER to find out I need hardware installed. Just my thoughts.

Have you considered an inflatable vest? Don't know if vest plus suit is the same as an air bag suit. Just a thought.

Re: No 100 day countdown to LRRS?

I looked into this a while back. The D-Air suit was the only thing I could find that looked like it might protect against an impact to the outside of your shoulder, ie falling hard on your side. My deductible is a lot more than one of those suits. The thing that scared me away from it is that it has to be reset by dainese after each deployment. $200 a pop plus no suit while its being reset. I'll pass and just ride more conservatively.

Re: No 100 day countdown to LRRS?

I have looked briefly into the vests, one thing that is a draw back is it must be teathered to the bike which means you have to remember to attach and unattach yourself.

I have been doing a lot of research on the Dair, even talked with a Dainese rep about it and I like what I have read and heard about it.

Additionally for me being a data hungry engineer it has the data acquisition system in it which gives you lap times, accel, decal, etc. Also the air bag is smart in how it deploys. Depending on the crash and speed it will deploy over a period of time from I think 0.1 seconds to 0.25 seconds. Also if you lowside it knows not to deploy unless you are tumbling. If you do lowside and begin to tumble once you've been sliding already it will deploy the bag.

Yes the $200 bucks per deployment is step, but I have heard there is a $350 upfront a year for unlimited repacks, I will confirm this tonight as I will be hopefully trying one on.

The Dair isn't for everyone but I honestly can not put a price on saving myself from being injured.

Also the repack is done by a company in the USA that is the only Authorized Dainese repair center and its in California. Im not 100% what there turn around will be for it but Ive heard its not too bad.

Also you are right you are without a suit so if you go down at the beginning of the weekend no airbag for the rest of it.

Honestly this is all a risk I am willing to take, and a hit I have been planning for financially.

Check, last I knew Todd at Heroic (NYC) had gone through certification with Dianase and could repack as well? I might be totally mis-remembering something but that's rattling around my head at the moment.

Hopefully you won't have to test the airbag feature this year, but I'll be happy to get your thoughts if it does happen. Actually, I think I'm more curious to see how much restraint it shows during lowsides.

Re: No 100 day countdown to LRRS?

As far as Heroic being able to repack, that's not who I have been told to send it to. The only place that I know of in California, and Im pretty sure its Anthony's Leather works. Dainese also has a headquarters there, so it could be a case of dainese doing the repack, and anthonys handling the repairs. Basically the repack is a new bag and computer system.

I will, with any luck have it at the first round, your more than welcome to stop by and check it out and ask any questions you want to. This all assumes an off the rack will fit me correctly, which according to the Rep, it just might work. If not I will have to go the custom tailored route which will delay this by a season due to funds.

Re: No 100 day countdown to LRRS?

So just got back from running some errands which included a trip to Seacoast Sport Cycle which my wallet is a bit lighter now. But I am now the proud owner of a Dainese D-Air Misano suit. Lots of trick stuff going on with the suit. Ill try to get some pictures of it to post later.

Looking like just a weekend or two for me this season. Baby will be here in 6 weeks, just bought a house, CBR is still in pieces from my August crash. I'm going to aim for riding at the Classic and maybe one more. I'll probably have to come up with baby boy Wood to watch a couple as well.

Thanks buddy, I'll definitely miss it this season but I'll be back.

On the other hand, I have a couple of acres at the new place with a nice space to build a flat track! Rehobeth Racing Series?

Thanks bud. I have access to a bobcat and a mini excavator through the future in-laws, but it looks like I might need to buy Iglu's tractor. You know, because tractor.

Rehoboth, not far from me! I fully support this track idea. I'd probably just get in the way if I tried to help with construction, but I'd be happy to show up and drink your beer.
