    1125r

Anyone have any experience tracking an 1125r? I'm looking for a track bike for track days, no racing (I say that now). I like the idea of a twin, and this things a fuck lot cheaper than a duc. I know spares might be harder to come by than the usual bikes, but once again, the price is right.

    Opinions?

Contact the WERA forum. I am aware of two folks over there who have track time on them.

Are you on crack? Am I on crack? Double the money? Maybe I'm just way, way out of touch but decent track-ready 848's used can be had for not much more than a 600...

Meh.... Rode my buddy Nick's 1125R a few times... street, NHMS, NJMP... fun bike but not sure I'd own one.

When I rode it at NHMS the damn thing nearly burned my foot off because of the exhaust. My god, I've never wanted to stick my foot in a bucket of ice water more in my life. Legit surprised I didn't end up with 1st degree burns.

Im also not sure if you guys notice, but its not exactly prime season for FINDING a bike, so ... yeah, slim pickings. Id really like a 675 just cause, but I haven't seen one come across anything.

A whole 8lbs heavier than a gsxr600 in stock trim. Lose that monstrous steel exhaust under the 1125 and your in the money.
I only rode one on the street a few times. It felt like a real motorcycle. Not the toys I'm used to.

Maybe, but we don't ride GSX-R600s in stock trim.

And have you ever ridden one. Very top heavy. Its a lot of work to fling the thing around a race track.

If you want local, you will never find the trackbike you want. Buy what you want and SHIP IT.

    Re: 1125r

I'm def not opposed to having it shipped, but how do you deal with shipping a bike? What do you expect the seller to provide before agreeing to buy it? And how do the money transactions work?

    Re: 1125r

There is some inherent risk here. When I did it, I asked the seller for references from the racing community, and I called the references. Satisfied, I took the risk and sent him the money before he sent the bike (forward air). It all worked out perfectly.

Some people will go as far as using a third party to hold the money (escrow) until the bike is received as promised.

1125r won DSB series in '09 and you're all bagging on it, that's a little funny.

Fact still remains, it won out of all manufacturers in '09. It's clearly not a terrible machine. I happen to enjoy them on track, nicely balanced until you cook the brakes.

So, 2 questions, what should I ask of the seller if I cant see the bike in person? Video? Detail pics?
And any idea how much it costs to ship a bike?
