So is group 5 now group 4, or will there be an announcement in the haddock that group 4 practice does not exist every day?

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

As usual, the lack of comedy here overshadows a thread, which is supposed to be informational. Thanks a lot, guys.

CCS/ASRA rules say 8" and allow 4" or 6" on the side plates, as long as they are clearly visible at speed.

Sounds to me like LRRS is wanting 6" all around the bike.

    Degsy,

Clarification on numbers is as follows (this is directly from Steve Baron, Chief of Timing and Scoring):

Some of the rules have changed this year.

This number size change was required as we have had many instances where bikes were hard to identify due to poor numbers.

This is not only for scoring purposes but also for bike identification by the safety workers.

Unfortunately not all organizations rules are the same.

    BTW

The front number rule on the 1st Preprint Rule book copy has an error

Front numbers when placed on the side of intake vents now MUST be on both sides.

so just to be clear this is the error in the preprinted book.

according to the rule book in post #1 it just has to be on the left of the intake.

    Yes. 6" are the MINIMUM.

It looks like there needs to be two. I mentioned this to Degsy about your new paint job.

I just sent Steve an email asking that if a bike does NOT have an intake, does the number plate HAVE to be in the center. We'll see what he says.

Re: 2011 LRRS Rulebook is out

The rulebook that they advertised to everyone via email says one number plate on the front left is acceptable. This is the same way it was for the past many years.

It's less than a month away, if they want to now require two plates they should have announced that a long time ago and printed it in the rulebook, they cannot expect everyone to repaint their bikes.

Where are you getting this info Chuck and is it substantiated?

Getting it straight from Steve Baron, the chief LRRS timer and scorer.

The email I received from Steve was also CCed to Steve Aspland, Wanda, Eric Wood, Andy Barrett, and Alan Hathaway.

Send me your email address and I'll forward the email to you.

Re: 2011 LRRS Rulebook is out

chuck the correction he's making is that it only needs to be on the left side of the front...the same side as the timing equipment.

the won't knock you out for numbering as long as it's readable. some guys mount it dead center above the air ram, MOST guys only do the front left, some guys do both side. The bike I bought has number plates on both sides so I'll be doing that so it doesn't look dumb...but if I had been the one to pain the bike only the left front would have gotten them.

Re: 2011 LRRS Rulebook is out

The 2010 rules allowed 4" numbers on the front. We have painted numerous race bikes with room for 4" numbers but not 6" numbers.

I'm only going on what I was sent. Believe me, I don't want to have to repaint my bike either if I don't have to.

I'm thinking the exact same thing. My bodywork is at paint right now, and I was recently asked what color # plates I wanted. I can try a follow up, but I'm pretty sure they're already done. I'd hate to have to put vinyl over my freshly painted plates, I was looking forward to getting away from having the most ghetto EX up there (at least until I throw it down the track again). OTOH, I'll do whatever I have to in order to pass tech and race.
