Wondering if this opens the door for FM to return from injury on the factory Yamaha this season, the seat is his next season pending contract negotiations.

    Re: 2021 MotoGP Discussion (Spoilers)

It's about time they sat Maverick. For all his promise he brought to Yamaha he really delivered very little. He has shown over and over again he can not deal with adversity or even little problems on the bike. Now he seems to be lashing out at his team. I figured after the last interview when he said he had no confidence in the team it was over for him. Yamaha just needed a reason and they got it.

    Re: 2021 MotoGP Discussion (Spoilers)

Apparently Vinales was trying to blow up the engine. I think he's ridden the Yamaha for the last time. Aprilia would be crazy to sign him - just sign Dovi, better development rider and no drama

    Quote Originally Posted by MotoMatters;
According to Yamaha, this behavior was visible in the data logged by the Yamaha M1, and that data forced Yamaha to draw the conclusion that "the rider‘s actions could have potentially caused significant damage to the engine of his YZR-M1 bike which could have caused serious risks to the rider himself and possibly posed a danger to all other riders in the MotoGP race".

Though Yamaha would not expand on this statement when asked, the behavior they are referring to is clear from reports by people at the track, and is visible in the lap times. Photographers present in that part of the circuit say that for the last four laps or so, they heard Viñales leaving the bike in fifth gear at the end of the straight, and only changing up into sixth just before Turn 1.

This explanation of events is clear from the lap chart. Below are the lap times from the analysis PDF(link is external) on the MotoGP.com results web page, with the last four laps highlighted. You can see that especially in Sectors 1 and 2 – containing the end of the front straight, the climb up the hill to Turn 3, and the sections between Turns 3 and 4 – Viñales is on average nearly 2 seconds down than on his laps at a more 'normal' pace.

You can also see that his top speed – measured just before Turn 2 up the hill – is nearly 30 km/h down, a consequence, most likely, of either poor drive out of Turn 1 or holding the bike in fifth rather than changing up into sixth. From his times, it looks like Viñales was holding the bike in lower gears for much longer than necessary on just about every straight on the track.

I think FM is contracted with Petronas so its not a simple move. Maybe easier to give them the factory bikes and bring Gerloff into the Monster Yamaha to ride the old bikes. I could be wrong though

In any case Yamaha must be thankful Vinales is gone and a year early no less.

Anyone else excited for Vinales' interview in a little bit? I bet there will be some fun finger pointing and a lot of denying of what he is accused of doing.

We were screaming at the tv for a few seconds when it looked like 200 might happen.

    We need that 200!

Also, I don’t care how many records MM breaks, or his overall stats. 46 is and will be the biggest icon of motorcycle racing. Nobody has been loved, admired and supported as much as him in moto racing.

Mav has to apologize cause he won't get another ride if the mfgs think he might do that to their bike. Has to convince them it won't happen again

post race interview with Binder was the best - "Yeah, it was a little scary, after a few corners the tires got cold and I had no grip, then the brakes got cold so I couldn't stop"

You really went out on a limb with that one buddy!

Really awesome race, mixed conditions really make for a lot of fun. I was pulling for MM93 to get to the top step because there have been SO MANY detractors (he's done, washed up, will never recover) and I would love to see their faces rubbed in it. Really bummed for Zarco, with no win on his resume yet he needs to stay on the bike every race (Mir style.) Never bummed to see a BB33 win. Seems like such a great kid, fantastic attitude. You can tell he's the type that is stoked to be there every day.

I too was rooting for the evil MM93. Kerry threw a foam brick at the TV every time he passed someone. I thought we were set up for an exciting finish BEFORE the rain fell. After it started, all bets were off! Binder's gamble was EPIC.

    Re: 2021 MotoGP Discussion (Spoilers)

Total speculation but I wonder had Marquez not crashed if he would have gotten close enough to Binder for Binder's 3 second penalty to have made a difference.

    Such a strange race haha
