    Re: 2021 MotoGP Discussion (Spoilers)

    Qualifying was def awesome.

So annoyed tho.... I made a bunch of late changes on my fantasy team, had both Miller & Rossi on there at one point, then said "no, don't second guess yourself" and took em off

I still think I have a good team, they all qualified top 10 so we'll see how tomorrow shakes out.

lol Yeah, it worked out All my riders did well except for Morbidelli. Holy cow, he fell off the edge of the Earth eh? Wonder what happened there.

SUCKS that Mir got robbed at the end there. Bet he was pissed a bit. A little at himself for running wide, a little at Suzuki for being so underpowered compared to the Ducatis... Still a great result for him, though. And three awesome races!

Cameron did exceptionally well in the second half of the race though! Fantastic debut, I'm sure they're happy w/ that.

Cam B. Had a great race moving up 11 spots from 22nd is a lot of work. Roberts seemed a bit of a downer but still 6th is not shabby. Moto 3 was a barn burner. Maverick surprised me with his determination and speed. Great start to the season...

I love the double race format a week apart. (I hate the double race a day apart format) Some questions I want answered: can Miller figure out how the other guys did that? Can the Ducs repeat that start? Where the hell did Morbidelli go? can he go from the back to the front? Are the other teams mentally crushed by the speed of the duc?

I have to assume the ducati riders started on full power map, then went to map 8 (lol) for the mid race stretch, and what we saw on the last lap was full power mode again. I thought Zarco would get Mir at the line, but that was astonishing power superiority (even with the mistake by Mir)

    Re: 2021 MotoGP Discussion (Spoilers)

I saw today that Morbielli's holeshot device broke and the bike stayed in launch geometry the entire race. Guy was riding a chopper the whole damn time.

I'm going to go ahead and not give a shit about Jack until further notice. Overrated.

Super interested to watch JZ5's season unfold. He's always been crazy talented, now it's looking like he may have developed his big bike race craft.

Remy Gardner took a 2nd in Moto2... he is the son of 1995 500cc champ Wayne Gardner. I'm sure the old man's name helps, but he seems to have plenty of talent too

Agree. Full practice sessions between races means everyone is running tip top. Can lead to a snooze fest, but it typically has led to crazy close racing.
I think Simon said that the Ducati's couldn't use full power because of the headwind, they would have ran out of fuel. Crazy, but another awesome element to help balance out the bikes.

I am VERY much OK with them banning holeshot devices now that everyone has them. I can't imagine anyone is reinventing the wheel here between MFGs and they're all pretty equal, its just a matter of money and getting them on every single bike on the grid. Causing more problems than they are fixing now. Unsure how I feel about the mid-race ride height adjusters, since everyone isn't using them, I say let them stay.

I was gonna ask if they ever disclosed Franky's problem, thanks for this tid bit.

I'm still rooting for Miller. He's a racer, through and through. He's talented. He doesn't make excuses. Reminds me of Hayden a bit, scrapping his way through more talented riders with hard work.
I don't like Zarco. He seems like the spoiled brat. Don't care about his natural talent.

Also worth noting that Qatar is notoriously bad benchmark for how the season goes.

Interesting. I don't know how anyone could have watch the 2020 season and came away with that impression of Zarco. Truthfully...in Moto2 I loved the guy, for Tech3 Yamaha I loved the guy, the whole deal with KTM made me say "fuck the guy, what a brat," then the 2020 campaign pulled me back hard in the JZ5 camp. He's my underdog pick for the year.

I'll also say I don't dislike Miller, he's a great character. He's just been entirely undeserving of his hype the last 7-8 months.

I can understand that viewpoint. His KTM thing was hard for me to swallow. You could applaud him for taking a risk. I just see it as him crying when things didn't go his way. His results really weren't that great last year. He just finished a lot of races and did way better then we were used to seeing from that team. Deserving of a ride at Pramac...I dunno.

I know results don't tell the full story, look at Pecco. That said, all the "experts" seem to see something special in Pecco and no one has really said that about Zarco.

Honestly...my personality and experience bike racing just matches too well with the guy scrapping it out.

    Re: 2021 MotoGP Discussion (Spoilers)

Zarco is the most successful Frenchman to race GP, across all classes. Zero wins on the big bikes.

Miller has one win on big bikes, years ago.

Both have had their shot. Pecco and Fabio are more likely to do something (if Fabio gets a bit of consistency). Mir is what a champion looks like these days, pulled it off in two classes over 4 seasons.

I think Fabio is going through the same thing every Yamaha rider goes though - including Vinales, Zarco, Franky, Pol, Cal, and even Spies. They all jive well with the bike, have oodles of talent, but are riding a bike that can't really reward them for it. Remember, Vinales won his first two races on the Yamaha and has yet to put up a championship fight. I don't think Fabio is any different. No one has really been able to be better than Marc on a Yamaha other than Lorenzo. Either he was able to extract something special, or maybe more realistically, the recent Michelins are just wrong for the bike. The Yamaha seems to be very easy to ride very fast, but is almost impossible to extract something special out of. I think I'll say the same thing about the Suzuki, its just one step better. The V4s, on the other hand, reward the most talented riders. There is more to get out of them. Different ways of riding them. The Yamaha's are one trick pony's going up against Marc.

I am very interested in seeing Fabio or Morbidelli on the V4. My hunch is that Fabio may crush it, Morbidelli not so much. They could also both fail. But Fabio seems to ride the front end the hardest out of all the Yamaha riders.

Wayne was 500cc champ in 87. Mick Doohan in 95.

Great points. It seems to cycle from manufacturer to manufacturer as well - it wasn’t that long ago nobody but Stoner could ride the Ducati. Even the GOAT, closer to his prime, couldn’t get the best out of it.

And I like Jack also, for his determination and who he is. Just not excited that something is about to finally break free for him. Id be happy to be wrong!

The past Ducati seems to be kinda comparable to the present day Honda. A lot of people say it got crushed by Bridgestone's, but I think they're just unwilling to admit that Stoner was the present day Marc. God dammit I wish he stilled raced. His biography is a pretty good read.

I like Aleix as well for similar reasons as Miller.

This is kind of what makes this sport great. I love the F1 Netflix show cause it is only this pit talk drama, too bad the racing sucks. With MotoGP, we get awesome racing and awesome pit talk!
