What's the nature of this "arm pump" surgery? This is his 2nd, no? He's 22. Seems shocking to me that a 22 year old is going through this much surgery already in life.
I suppose this isn't anything new for top-level athletes.

I always thought arm pump was more of an offroad/mx type of thing. Sure looked painful.

I think most humans aren't riding their streetbikes at the level these guys are hanging on. We mostly run into it offroad where things are really moving around.

It's pretty rugged in an offroad setting.. Makes it near impossible to hang on. I expect at that level it's pretty easy to get hanging on a bit too hard.

I used to get real bad racing MX..

He could have ridden easier and avoided it. Its just another limitation riders need to balance.

I get the sense that Fabio is not into the fitness side as much as some other riders. He looks fit, but looking fit and being fit are 2 entirely different things. There is also very specific training that can be done for racing GP bikes. I won't admit I know exactly what it is, but someone like Marc is a prime example of it. Other spend hours riding moto (something Jack does a lot), which will definitely train you to fight off arm-pump. I don't think I've ever seen a video of Fabio on a dirtbike or doing anything but some jogs around the track with his shirt off.

I know everyone does it, and maybe this is my cycling side coming out, but arm-pump surgery is the equivalent to mechanical doping.

Moto didn’t work for Jack’s arm pump problems obviously...

Finally watched moto3. I can't believe Acosta won again, and his teammates took each other out!

    That last lap was insane.

Also those highsides from McPhee and Rodrigo.

Posting this here because it’s not worthy of a new thread, and anyone who has the slightest care about AMA superbike is probably already in this thread...

Watching highlights of the last round and was surprised to see both Loris Baz and Hector Barbera lined up. Also, Roger Hayden has really dialed in the Salvador Dali look. Creepy.

I've seen video of him riding a dirt bike in the off season on his instagram. That being said I've never seen any video of any motogp rider rock climbing, which for me is the best forearm workout I've found. I also would speculate that racing a motogp bike is probably the most strenuous braking/forearm workout you can get, considering the length of acceleration/deceleration zones compared to other bikes. I know he's not the only rider to have had arm pump surgery.

I was thinking the same thing about rock climbing. I'm guessing its just a different use of the muscles...or someone is going to have a major breakthrough. However, the time commitment to climb takes away a lot of other training too. I've done a lot of things. Raced motorcycles, fooled around in MX, tons of woods riding, rock climbed, MTB a lot, and done downhill. In my experience, nothing brings on arm pump quite like MX does.

I don't blame him on the surgery. Everyone is doing it, it seems you have to if you want to compete...which makes it exactly like doping in cycling. Only that it isn't banned.

My favorite MX'er, Bob Hannah, said he never got arm pump until they went to upside down folks. Just some useless mx trivia (the kind of stuff I like to read).

Okay, that's enough winning from Miller...

Bummer for Roberts and Cameron B... they were both super competitive.

Hell of a comeback for Acosta!

Miller and Quat shooting the boot on the podium was pretty swell. I'm starting to like this miller fucker.

Crazy race. It definitely didn't go to plan for a lot of people. Miller with a double long lap penalty?! Not what I expected.

Thoughts so far after todays race:

We are looking at the ‘21 champion in FQ20.
    Suzuki needs to replace Rins.
    Pol sucks, bad.

Pol is the top Honda. I think the Honda sucks, bad.

Bummer about the kid in Moto3, never nice to be reminded of our mortality.

Maybe, and Pol is top Honda by a whisker. Nakagami only one point down and finished ahead of him three times this season already.

Pol’s got excuses, but if MM were healthy and winning is the bike still to blame? Sounds like the bike probably IS difficult to ride, but Pol got a seat on the top team and so far he sucks.
