    Re: 2022 MotoGP Discussion (Spoilers)

Really fantastic streak by Pecco. He's been interesting to watch; amazing talent, definitely one of the fastest guys in the paddock. His miscues are usually real head-scratchers, loss of focus or the moment was too big for him. I hate to phrase it like this, but was his DUI the "best" thing that could have happened to him? Did that kind of trouble help him put his life and career into sharper focus? Not to say it's good he got a DUI at all, but sometimes (particularly with the younger crowd) a brush with losing everything is exactly what someone needs to take the next step.

Once again my boy Zarco lets me down. Glad to see he resigned with Pramac, he doesn't deserve a factory seat but definitely deserves top notch equipment.

On MM93, I'm not really expecting him to contend for a podium this season. If he does, that would be overachieving. He's just 29 years old which should not mean the sun is setting on his career just yet. If this last surgery did the trick he should have a good 3-5 seasons to contend for championships.

Objectively speaking, Marquez did not do anything wrong as far as etiquette and rules go. He had a moment on the first lap, which is completely par for the course. almost no one doesn't have a moment of some kind as the tires come in. It was unlucky that the series points leader was deep enough in the pack that he was caught out. The second incident was a result of the first, and no one could have prevented that. All other commentary on it seems like partisan BS to me.

    Re: 2022 MotoGP Discussion (Spoilers)

Aside from the first lap shenanigans and Takka earning that Honda contract yet again (joking, this time it actually wasn't his fault), the race was decent. Miller keeps showing he's worthy of being in the top 5, but he tends to fade as the race goes on. Aleix did great yet again, but there was a 5+ second gap between him and Pecco/Enea by the end of the race. Those Ducati's are really something else at this point.

I was surprised to see Binder in the fight so much. He was riding well and seemed to have an ability to creep in deep on the brakes before the apex.

Fabio looks like he got some burns on his chest from his slide. Also got knocked around pretty good. Not a good way to start 5 straight weeks of racing. Going to be an interesting final few races for the championship, though it looks like that if Pecco can keep it upright, he'll take it. I'm still rooting for Aleix though.

    Re: 2022 MotoGP Discussion (Spoilers)

Apparently Fabio had second crash on the way back to the pits

The Frenchman shunted the Repsol Honda and fell onto the race track but was hit only by his own bike, which left him with cuts to go with the burns and bruises from sliding along the tarmac.

He then hitched a ride back to the Monster Energy Yamaha garage, where he was involved in a second incident, head-on with another scooter.

“Sore and burned, but shame because it’s the first time I feel good in Aragon in many years and crashing in the third corner was not the best,” said Quartararo.

“But, I’m having tough last races, but still motivated to do more in the next races.

“After the crash, a marshal hit the scooter; I had a second crash.

“It was quite fast actually; luckily, I didn’t take off my helmet.

“But the marshal just hit face to face with another scooter, quite fast; luckily, I didn’t have nothing [further injuries] from that crash.

“But everything I have is from the first crash.

    Re: 2022 MotoGP Discussion (Spoilers)

    Great race for the championship.

I was super excited thinking this would be a big group because of the tire wear concerns. Unfortunately not the case.
I'm going deeper into that camp that they need to change regulations/tires. Aero and ride height devices means you just cannot follow someones wheel for more than a few corners. Its almost like everyone lets the gap stay, and waits until they want to make a pass and then move up...if they can.

No doubt that there are not team orders in Ducati!

I might be the biggest Marc hater. Or at least seem like it. But I'm not. I'm rooting for him HARD right now. I am anti one person running away with the championship. This season has been awesome so far and getting Marc will make it better. I also forgot how much I missed his ability to defy physics, and how amazing he is to just watch. Guess I took that for granted after so many years of it.

    Re: 2022 MotoGP Discussion (Spoilers)

Wow! So much to comment on.

But gotta start with Jack. I’m obviously thrilled. But that’s exactly why I think Ducati should have kept him. He can win on his day. He does things differently. He isn’t just another Pecco/Enea/Martin/Zarco. At the right track, he can be the best and not cause any issues to their championship hopeful. No drama like what’s happening between Enea and Pecco right now.

Marc is a hero. Everyone is in trouble if they make a step with the bike next year.

Poor Aleix. Not much else to say.

Binder is finding his own. Or maybe he’s always had it, and just needs the qualifying.

    Re: 2022 MotoGP Discussion (Spoilers)

Was entertaining. Nice to see everyone stay out of trouble for the most part. When I saw Marc fade quick I thought he was destined to hit the back. Was a very nice ride.

Pecco what do you say? I feel like it's checkers or wreckers for him. If he isn't out front he is on tarmac. Sometimes you have to take what is given to you. Glad he didn't take out Quartararo. That would have been messy after the race.

Sucks for the shit luck for Aleix. Wonder if the bike had a gremlin or if someone forgot something. No points but had a good ride and by the looks of it was lucky to even be close to the start.

Quartararo looks to be playing the old nascar strategy. Just take as many points as you can without risking it all. At this point probably the best way to go.

Binder had a good ride. If he had a top bike all year he could fight for podiums on a regular basis. I remember watching him ride from the back to the front in an epic moto3 win. KTM really needs to get a better bike while he is still capable.

Aleix's map settings was stuck on ECO mode to save fuel during the warm-up lap. Apparently, doesn't rev above 5k and can't go faster than 100 km/h (60 mph?)

Pretty compelling title fight, should come down to the wire. Very interesting with Jack getting into the mix and Phillip Island coming up next. Maybe he’ll make me eat my words, I wouldn’t mind that. I’m thinking Zarco used the last of his tires getting by Marc and could t pass Pecco, or played the company man role and put a buffer between Pecco and Marc. He certainly looked like he had the pace to get to the podium.

Hard to say. He didn’t talk to the press after the race, which is a contractual obligation. All I’ve read has said he was pushed wide by Jack in T3 of the first lap, and had a big moment in T4. I expect his rain setup was dog shit. Post race he hopped off his bike and shut himself in his trailer, team says he wouldn’t even talk to them. Not good for Fabio, for sure.

He's still leading the points, barely.

I'm still rooting for Aleix or Jack.

Whatever they "fixed" on Jack's bike before last week seems to be working really well for him.

Yeah, Zarco let it slip out in an interview that it was a team order...

Zarco admits to DAZN he closed the throttle behind Pecco. Ducati instructed riders they can battle Pecco for 1st place in race but not to take unecessary risks under conditions like today if fighting for other place

    https://twitter.com/CanalplusMotoGP/...Kl_a0Dq9w&s=19

Basically, he felt he had the pace, but didn't think there was enough time left to get the win.

Does "team orders" apply to all teams running that producer?

    Re: 2022 MotoGP Discussion (Spoilers)

Yeah it came down from Ducati.

Def not uncommon (the commentators even commented & speculated about potential team orders during the race when they saw Zarco charging forwards), but does take a little bit of the spectator thrill out of it.

If Zaro had passed Pecco it only would have pushed him down to 4 points behind Fabio instead of 2 in the championship chase (13 points for 4th, 15 for 3rd), but every single point matters this late in the season. Plus, in dicey weather conditions, every positional challenge further increases the risk of a crash.
