a little on topic but by the grace of the racing gods could we please see road racing in high def? No not AMA/MotoGP/WSBK's problem, its Speed TV. We all have huge flat screens which just makes low def viewing amplified to a worse degree in my opinion. Watching Isle of Mann and the rare Indy/Miller races in Hi-def is a different animal all together for the fanatic & the far less passionate. Want a bigger fan base/more viewers? make it viewable.

oh and more umbrella girl shots please.

Oh, I agree...the racing is better...when Mladin is already off-screen, 5 seconds ahead of the field. Like I mentioned, the competitiveness for second place is awesome. Hayden, Boz, and Hayes are all within 20 points of each other. I think if Mat leaves next year, the scramble for the championship would resemble this year's MotoGP field, where even up to the last few rounds it's still up for grabs.

And just for the record, I've never been a big Mladin fan, but I think he is an amazing racer. I wouldn't want to see anyone dominating, regardless of the format. It's not a lot of fun when the championship is over and done halfway through the season...

Not sure which races you've been watching. Especially since Yosh got off the 08's and onto the 09's

    2008 bike
    ---------
Daytona - Mat was 1 second ahead of 2nd and 3rd
Fontana - .068 and 8.7 seconds from Mat to 2nd
Road Atlanta - 15.7 ahead of 2nd in Race 1 and 4.1/4.3 seconds ahead of 2nd and 3rd in race 2

    2009 bike
    ---------------
Barber - 1.9 and 2.7 seconds from Mat to 2nd
Fontana - Mat got 5th in Race 1 and was 1.8 seconds ahead of 2nd in Race 2
Road America - Race 1 Mat was 4 seconds ahead of privateer Laverty in 2nd. Pegram won race 2
Laguna Seca - 1.6 seconds from Mat to 2nd. Blake Young led most laps
Mid-Ohio - Hayes won both races

Alex, didn't mean to step on your toes. I think something's getting lost in translation over the interwebs, I'm pretty sure we're on the same side here. I'm afraid my "5 seconds" comment may have been taken out of context. It was a general remark, exaggerated at best, about Mat's control at the front of the pack. I think I had the visualization from Road Atlanta in my head, anyway. I don't actually have a lap timer on my tv, but I figured everyone (not affiliated with AMA) would have assumed I was speaking in general. Thanks for the numbers, too, I was trying to search around and find the difference between the bikes, you just made it easy for me.

Never said I didn't trust him. He's actually at the races, he'd know a helluva lot more than I would. I'm one of the tv spectators. Sometimes I add my own commentary, too.

My toes are def not stepped on dude. We are just having a discussion that's all. No hard feelings what-so-ever.

I'm lucky enough to be able to go to all the races this year and a damn good amount of them the last 2. I get to sit and listen to 'very experienced people' including a few AMA Champs discuss these topics. I just try to share some of the information I pick up along the way s'all. Watching all the races live in-person and watching/listening to everything that goes on around it, watching the timing sheets every practice, every session, every rider, every lap, listening to the riders in the press conferences (before the media tampers with it) you just get much more information to base your opinions on. Heck one of the 'leading roadracing websites' doesn't even bother posting race times up!

Sounded just like Eslick's Buell and looked a bit tidier. Was running just plain black bodywork with a simple Buell logo on it. Looked sano. Buell/Knapp's pit was right next to us all weekend.
