Slightly off topic but, why doest ducati run the desmosedici in WSBK?
its a homologated bike isnt it? its a 4 cyl under 1000ccs. is it underpowered for WSBK (hard to beleive for a bike that makes about 200hp in street trim). just curious.

I think cost to develop would be the big killer?

Lot of reasons but here's one. The 1098R is faster around a racetrack than the Desmo.

Is the 1098 forced to run restricted intakes ala the 748/749 of old? And if so, any word of that restriction being eased any time soon?

WSBK runs an 1198 dont they.
i guess i would have to check lap times. its hard to believe that a premier class bike (ducati no less) is slower around a track than a WSBK bike

Doesn't surprise me in the least. The Desmosedici is a GP inspired machine. It's competent, but with 0 of them being raced... and the bike being reworked from it's GP parent to be streetable... I can easily see a dialed in WSBK machine blowing it's doors off in lap times.

If sheer HP was all it takes, BMW would lead WSBK right now, right?

You could put a desmo back to gp specs and still be wsbk legal though.
i mean its not like you just tape up the headlights and race it. the desmo is an awesome starting point. 90% of the work is done for you. its not like biaggis bike is the same thing you buy at the dealer. its practically no holds barred out there

You're assuming that the Desmo is really that close to the GP machine, I don't think it is. Otherwise I think a privateer would have already done so if it was that simple/cost effective.

but how many bikes need to be made in order to be considered a production bike? the Desmo is a street bike but is it considered a production bike?

back to the topic , the girls are smoking!!!(even with those cheap boob jobs)

Yes, it meets the homoligization(sp?) requirement as defined by WSBK.

With the price tag of the desmo that could be the deterrant.

Valencia/wsbk/2010- fastest race lap 1:34.632 by biaggi (3rd)
winner was haga on 1098 (weird, thought it would be 1198) best lap was 1:35.070

valencia/moto gp/2006- best lap 1:33.3 by winner rossi. fastest duc was capirossi in 4th with a 1:33.4
