Congrats Joe, you guys did great. I was expecting a Hawk team to come in 2nd after us!

It was definately a great time and some awesome racing. EX mafia definately had some impressive runs of LONG minutes on that bike. Huge props. Bigger props to all the LRSS guys that manage to successful traverse the track for 2.5 hours. There were some huge speed differences to contend with and there were no incidents. I know I had two stoppies out there that had me slow down for a bit to catch my breath.
The Dark side guys were flying out there, awesome job bringing it home!
+1 not one person went down. That pretty impressive. A few mechanicals, X2 on our end but no one got injured. I think I was lapping some of the same people every 2-3 laps. Yea, that much of a speed difference. + some of the linesNOTHING consistant. I warned people about the T1 line and to be weary about comming around on the outside.

This race was run well by all the competitors. To run for 2.5 hours and not have any Red flags and I think only one local yellow was a great accomplishment by all.

Glad everyone kept their cool. When you have 2.5 hours, checking up for a safe pass just makes sense. I only really had to check up a few times. I felt like I was on a different track/plane to most of the other riders.Gino, I was lapping some teams at an alarming rate!
I think I only had to check up real hard twice. Once in T3 and once in the transition from T9 to T10. Otherwise what Paul said was correct. Most times they were not on my line.

Even I, our team's token-slow-guy, was starting to lap some on my 2nd lap! I have to say, passing, something I don't get to do a lot, was really fun!
I don't think I was ever on the track with such a variety of speeds and lines, but with both LRRS and USCRA racers keeping their cool, I felt quite safe out there, even when fighting for a position.
I'm proud that us LRRS visitors showed our USCRA hosts the respect they deserve and that in return we gained their trust so we could play together for almost 3 hours at an awesome event. Can't wait to do it again!

No one went down because we were going so slow!
I really need to write a little report but BIG thanks to my team and especially (as usual) Gino. The man took the holeshot during the race and was Chief Mechanic for the team.
Things I learned. 1. Don't cheap out on the chain. 2. Double check all your water connections.

Was it a hose connection that failed, the thermostat or a leak in the radiator? I don't think I'd run a race bike again without a temp gauge. Hawks seem to me to be especially prone to temp issues and while a temp gauge wont solve the problem it'll help keep it from becoming much larger.

No hose issue. I tightened everything on the outside and topped off the main cap and the radiator.
Couple of guesses---
1. Original radiator cap.
2. don't know the condition of the coolant system.
3. T-stat.
4 Uhhhh Everything engine EXCEPT for the carb.

That thing was not doing well. If it was just a cap or water pump issue then, it's a whole other load of problems now. It locked up 3 times on me that last lap! Yikes!
I thought someone said a sparkplug wire had come loose?

Run it for 8 laps full out and let me know if you survive. Remember Mr. BlackSquirrel and his Hawk. Intermittent seizing,(he thought the tank was going to vapor lock) spitting him off in the bowl breaking his collarbone and then seizing down in Atlanta.
I'm guessing a crank bearing spun.
similar symptoms....
