I thought the belly pan rule was for bikes that came with belly pans stock?

the rules clearly state that ALL 4 stroke machines have to have a belly pan...but officials at LRRS dont seem to care if you run one or not. they "claim" that if it didnt come with one then you dont need one...i was unaware that motorcycles without bellypans from the factory also dont use oil.

I would like to meet whatever sadist that will try to race a stock Sportster 883 (about 550lbs and not exactly well setup for aggressive riding) vs. a SV650, a Monster 696 or any of the Aprilia motards. Seriously, they should allow Buell XB9 models at least.

Maybe there's a concern about all the down time-corner workers picking up parts when XB9's go over 8Krpm

I would question this. Working Fuel Inspection in tech I have seen bikes turned away.. the only exception I know of is Mtards... logic: when they go no belly can will help (and only hold 1Q)

spec fuel: says that VP is back..does that mean that im back to buying expensive gas again or will the pump gas still be good?

I grind the exhaust of my EX, they just dont have the ground clearance. I wouldve crashed a dozen times by now if that needed a bellypan.

I take it you didn,t do the header mod? It pulls the headers under the frame rails more. I had a belly pan on there for a short while and had no issues once I raised the rear end of the bike.

Did that, still catch them now and again. I used to do it regularly, but I attribute that to bad form.

Exhaust modification is outlawed in the rule book... I'm protesting my way to the top this year!

What's the deal for NV with no points? I was lucky enough to dnf the first race because of a radiator leak lowside, followed by getting knocked out for the rest of the season on May 11th when an jackass on a motard t-boned me in T3. Thus, I start with zero (had to cancel all of my other entries for the season). Is it grid by fax in that situation?

That makes sense...I assumed that as well. So do you "assume" that I might get gridding preference over anyone who didn't race last year? I did TRY to race...maybe that's worth something.

Last years points will only apply to the first weekend. The second weekend will use points earned from the first weekend, the third weekend will use points earned from the first two weekends and so on.....

Official word. Nope. Coming into the meeting, we were going to go with the fax race for the first event, but after some discussion, we decided to go with last year's points.
I didn't realize that last year there were actually people who showed up at the Registration Building in person on April 1st (How appropriate!) with their entries in hand.
Best laugh was Charlie Tarna at his computer with his finger poised over the "send" button, watching the Atomic Clock website for the exact moment to hit it. I asked him if he was that sure that the NHMS fax machine was tied into the same clock. (A text from Wanda revealed that he was the 26th entry.)

Novice grids don't matter all that much, there is a huge range of skill level. Typically whoever is gunna win the race will win it from the back row just as easily as they would from the front row. But yea sounds like anybody that didn't score points last year will fax race for their grid position the first weekend.

I think the new system is a huge improvement, I'm psyched.

The number of novices that have taken the race school last year, got their license and have not raced will be very small. There will be no pre-reg for people taking the penguin the first weekend because they won't have a license, so there's nothing to worry about. If there are two no-ppojnt novices eligable to pre register I'd be surprised.
