To add to the bad timing, my dentist wants me to commit to $7k of work all 'cause of a missing tooth... sonofa.

    Re: Bad timing

Wouldn't it be smarter for LRRS to contact Jamaica and the series to see if there are bike rentals there or locals in each series willing to loan some out?

Kona HI is opening a race track on the big island and that's exactly what I intend to do.
Then, if a Hawaii racer wants to do some AFM rounds or try out our local tracks on my side like Sears Point, ThunderHill or Laguna Seca, I can help them out here. You'd probably score a nicer bike and wouldn't have to stress about wrenching or where you'd store em between rounds, etc. just a thought.

LRRS isn't involved in any way, doubt they'd have any interest getting involved. This is just a LRRS racer forming a trip with his friends to have a good time.

JC - Tell me about this wanna be triple?
Brendan - Me, make something pretty? Well... I suppose I can do some reading. My last attempt at a paint job did not win me any awards.

Haha, I meant it in the loosest of terms. Sellable would be more apropos. I just noticed your schedule though. That would take away option 1 because I need the money to buy a new bike. I figured this was a winter thing. But the offer to buy it is still on the table.

It'd be awesome if this was a winter series. An excuse to be an 'invited guest' to race in Jamaica, now in the dead of winter?! Yes please!

    Re: Bad timing

Define "enough of a paper trail."

A forum member who now lives in Texas has the title. Or lost the title. Or something like that. I don't have it, but the bike is not stolen.

However, if you can make it work, here is what I require for use of said bike:
-Saftey wire it for LRRS (probably need to do this for the race you're running)
-Replace coolant (you also probably need to do this anyway)
    -Check the valves/adjust if required
    -Change the oil
    -Flush the brake fluid

    Re: Bad timing

I'm waiting for clarification on that, but it's sounding like a title or notarized bill of sale. The bikes will be going through customs a couple times, I can only imagine what kind of hoops the US will make us jump through on the return trip.

Actually, I should ping Kerry on that front to see if she's got any advice.

    Re: Bad timing

So, got some updates from Patrice, looks like shipping will be pretty reasonable for the series as we have a means of going duty free now. I also have a shipping target of before October so I can have the bike released in time for some pre-race practice.

    This is actually happening!

Not yet, been too busy karting and making holes in carbon fiber and generally skipping ice racing to deal with that tiny detail.

For those curious, found the rules I'll be playing under: http://www.jrdc.org/sites/default/fi...025-2-2016.pdf

Motorcycles are at the end of the doc. Their SS rules are close to our Production rules.

    Re: Bad timing

Right, so, figure this thread needs an update:

Ended up skipping the whole buy prep and ship a bike that I may never get back routine. Turns out while it's easy to get a bike TO the Caribbean for racing, getting it BACK is a PITA. The upside is there are likely bikes to rent there, just bring your own tires. (I still don't quite get that detail, but whatever.) Airfare sucks if you're not flying out of JFK, 'cause first you have to get there before going to Guyana. What should be a relatively quick trip becomes an all day affair with the one or more layovers if leaving from Portland, an international airport... laaaaaaame.

Sadly, because I've got some big bills pending, I'm not going to make this happen this year. But I'm budgeting for it for next year now that I've got a handle on the costs.

In the mean time, I'm back to wanting a 600 but not to ship, I want it to learn to ride the dang things and recalibrate my sense of speed.
