Honda's sales are down 50% according to Powersports Industry reports and the other big 4 OEM's are somewhere in the 30% range. US racing is hurting because the whole industry is hurting.

it's sad, even though buell have been creating a lot of controversy over at AMA, i personally felt very sad while watching eric buell's clip.

I meant more along these lines: DMG was perceived to be favoring Buell at the expense of the other OEMs, generally pissing off the other OEMs. And now . . . there is no Buell. Maybe those "slighted" OEMs are asking, Who's your daddy now, DMG?

I was never a real big fan of Buell bikes but it sucks to see it end. At least they tried to build sport type bikes, too bad harley thinks it's not worth it. Bet they don't stop making chrome electra-pukes. Racing in general is gonna keep taking hits if this economy doesn't pick up soon.

Shame he sold so much of his company to HD. I'm sure he's taking it all the way to the bank, but he's still gotta be bummed to watch them wash their collective hands of him now. How proud HD must be, especially seeing their 1125 beat a bunch of 600's. Maybe they'd be better off building reliable & quality machines that would better compete with what the others are now offering and at a less rediculous price...

It's a shame they won't be around. Even if I didn't totally big their bikes or their ties with HD it was nice to see an American bike mfg.

It really makes me wonder if "DMG" [Edmondson, who was a motorcycle guy long before he was a car guy] knew Buell was on the chopping block at H-D and tried a "hail mary" with the rule concessions to help them out as best he could.
It's not like most of the other OEMs weren't already pissed off anyway; I think I would have done it myself if I were him.
