    I run a 160/5 setup.

Standard rule of thumb is 4.25"R for 250F's and 5" rear for the larger displacements.

Good to know. I've been tossing around the idea of doing a tard conversion using Suzuki Bandit wheels so I'd have a cush drive and no tubes, and a 4.5" rear... but it sounds like I should 'think bigger' on that front.

Anyone make thinner warmers than Woodcraft/Chickenhawk? With the 5" rear on the KTM, and the other dirty bikes in the ZTA/T1A garages it looked like getting warmers on and off was a PITA due to limited sidewall clearance.

It's a PITA at first but once you get the knack it isn't bad.

The parts are there to convert, the problem would be with keeping it going. I wasn't really considering that. I would have more luck ordering a mail order bride than back ordered Husky parts.

Yeah that's what I was referring to. When it does go bang, good luck rebuilding it. Motard the Kawi, or buy one already built. Check out www.motostrano.com for all the parts you need; they even have wheel/brake/tire combo kits that get you just about all you need to start out.

I'll probably deal the Husky away this summer, then make the call on setting up the KX or just buying a bike from one of you guys. I have been pricing the stuff and see it will add up quick.

Call Richie Alexander at Hudson Valley Motorsports http://www.hudsonvalleymotorcycles.com/
I work with him on the Jordan Suzuki team and he built up a KXF450 motard recently. Might have some good leads for you.

Re: Interested in building a motard

ya man pm me if you have any questions/doubts on what to get for an mx bike to convert. I originally was gonna get a kxf but ended up with a crf due to finding a good bike/parts availability.
I got my 07 in the fall as a bike setup awesome for mx, bought wheels/brake/sprockets etc over winter and by the spring it was a motard. Still all stock motor/mx suspension but its doing well.
