Ryan Hobbs, the guy who handles the motorcycles on the site, is a member of this site (pasta-rocket). He's a good guy and offers good deal on the kind of bikes you are looking for.

I'll tell you from experience, salvage bikes are not a safe buy and they're not worth what they sell for.

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

Can you explain a little more. I understand if the bike is a basketcase but if its plastic damage, frame scratch totalled why wouldnt it be safe?

The bike I bought was plastic damage. i had motor issues to start and no idea what was causing them because you'll have zero history on the bike. Then I found after racing the bike that there was an inch of play in the forks due to a warped steering head in the frame. Don't even attempt to bring it back because you'll get told 'tough'. You can buy a used race or trackbike for close to the price that salvage yards will charge you and you know what you're getting into.

I have to agree Building a track worthy bike from a wreck Seems like the way to go. But It is not really cost effective. If you are serious about the track stuff buy a race bike because Once you get into doing the suspension it gets real expensive real quick. Let someone else spend the money and get the bike all set up. Then when they want the newer model you win. I paid $100 less for my Racebike then the guy spent on the suspension alone.
