No ur wrong its Hp.....If he did that he would be shifting at 11K. Bike still makes power up to 15-15.5ish

If it was a LS6 BB chevy thats a differnt story as cars to bikes is.....Torgue isn't like in a car the HP is what does the real work

Just look at this dyno sheet as an Example: you would be shifting at 7K if that was the case

    Re: CCS ROC Daytona 2013

Based on that torque curve I wouldn't shift at 7k, even without knowing the gearing I'm going to be going back to a point with less torque shifting that early. 9k looks like a better candidate, maybe pushing past a touch if the gearbox would make you dip past 6k when you grab the next gear. That'll keep you in the meat of the torque, but you've got lots of overrev for when you need to skip a shift due to track layout. (Ok, we're talking about a Busa so it's all straight lines but still...)

Good find Pete. I'm curious what dyno shop would actually dyno your bike in all gears, instead of just 4th.

It's to bad I can't get my laptop to hook up with my Yosh ECU. I'm sure there's a way to set the shift light for each gear.

You've only got a USB cable for that right, not a standard serial cable?

If you know your gear ratios you don't need to. The output of the motor is the same in all gears. The reason they use 4th is because it's typically closest to 1:1 ratio.

So my shift points would vary with different sprockets too?

No, changing sprockets would alter the MPH you'd be at when you shift, but not the RPM.

According to that article, my GUESS is yes, but barely. Changing the final drive ratio would affect all gears "equally", but because it's by a percentage it may change it a little. You'd have to do the math.

Not true.....all bikes make peak HP then fall off.....and as that article proves, its before the Redline on the Tach

Care to put money on that?

I've had more than one machine that hasn't peaked out before safe redline/limiter. All depends on the setup. (Had one machine that didn't peak TORQUE before reaching piston speeds that spelt disaster. Fun screamer.)

I have dyno graphs for 2 different Hondas that show it is true. gsxrs just suck.

my 600 graph looks like it hiccups at the very very top, like it hit the limiter there. that's the only time it goes down.

    Re: CCS ROC Daytona 2013

no short shifting this time. Stock gearing was topping me out at 151 MPH, but the +1 rear sprocket would get me around 155. Practice was stock gearing, races I ran +1

That was in ASRA SportBike, and I only record in practices. I cant tuck my helmet behind the windscreen when the GoPro is there. I'll post up a screen shot of the QSTarz data if you really want to see the top speed from that race.

I'm not sure what's being argued here...

But: Jim is wrong (and fat), Piggy is right, Pete is handsome, and Josh is spouting loads of crap that's over everyone's head.

when you say +1 you're talking about the front sprocket right? for some reason it sounds like you're talking about the rear but that would give lower top speed
