Arrived Friday around 7:00 A.M. I had a friend that was taking the school so we arrived early and were all ready to go. I got in two practices and watched my friend for most of Friday.
We arrived at about the same time Saturday, and I got in two more practices, doing 1:30's (too slow for wat I thought I was doing). I watched my father and friend race LW Sportsman, neither of them going too fast, and after that called it a day.
Sunday we got there a little later knowing that we did not have to get in early for the school. I got in two more practices and was then waiting around for Race 14. I had some chattering in the front whell going into turn 9 earlier in practice, so we adjusted the Penske to make the weight even on the front and back wheels.
When Race 14 rolled around I was suppose to be gridded right next to my father but due to a computer glitch, he was four rows back (big advantage for me). After the first wave went off I was all set to go. I had an excellent start and moved right up to fist place. I was trying to keep it slow while going fast on th first lap because I did not have tire warmers. To my suprise I was in first place all through the first lap and I knew I could keep that because before I was maybe doing 31's. I picked it up after that and was dragging my knee in every turn (which I just learned to do this weekend!) and held my place. I was challenged once I caught up to the motards in front of me and I had a terribly slow rider in front of me. If I had any chance at winning the race I knew somehow I needed to pass this guy. I decided that it ws going to be in the bowl, so after doing my normal line, I saw that he had run wide and tried to get in on the inside, which I thought I ahd plenty of room to do. But unfortunatly, I hit this guy or he hit me, and I was feeling bad about it because I still got by him.
By this point I had what I think was Pete right behind me, which got me upset that I was slowed down so much. I decided to go the way I had been going before and not try anything drastic to get a bigger gap. I went another lap and Pete wasnt showing me a wheel anymore so I thought I was Ok. Obviously as the race goes on you will be going faster. Coming inot turn 11 I wasnt doing anything more than usual except going a little faster. I was down lower because not only my knee was touching but my toe as well. Thats when I felt the bike just drop. I went rolling towards the pit in but I got up Ok. I was so mad that I crashed with only three laps to go! Next weekend I am doing the LW Sportsman as well as Production Twins to see how competitive I am in that race.
I would also like to thank Ann and Mark Dages for helping me get back to where I was pitted, and Scott Slattery for bringing the bike back.

Thanks,
It looks like we got a bunch of EX500's out there and Production Twins is looking great. It looks like I've got a lot of competition between you and my father (Tom)!
Conor
man, i thought I was the first person through turn 1... Didn't I lead the first lap? Maybe I was just mentally blocking you out so i'd trick myself into thinking i was leading
By the 3rd or 4th lap you were definitely way out in front, bro... after lap 2 i dropped WAY back to 5th or 6th place. After you, your dad and mike got past me i dont remember seeing you till u were down in turn 11... I didn't even realize it was you, I thought I was in 4th place at that point, not third. I thought I finished 2nd... I couldn't believe it, I thought you totally checked out.
Great race up till that point bro... I'll definitely make sure to shake yer hand next time 'round. It's a shame ya lost the front in 11, you were totally walkin away from us.
Definitely check out LWSM... I finished somewhere mid pack doin 33's, so 29's-28's will get ya a pretty respectable finish i'd think, top 10 at least. Play w/ the idea of doin GTL, too... that was a fun time till i had to pull in cuz of bike trouble.
If this was an accurate prediction of what the PTwin season's gonna be like it's DEFINITELY gonna be a good one.
See ya in two weeks, bro![]()

Nice job Coner, good to see you signed up on the boards. I met you down at VIR (riding Pete's ZX6R).
Keep up the good work and stay on two wheels.
I might just have to stick around next weekend to watch this N.PTwins madness..
Boston --> San Diego
I'll tell ya' wat Pete. It was actually my first official race so if you think you led the first lap you probably did. I would think that you were in the other group with the Motards or something.
That was a really fun race because I had never broke high 30's before and you guys kinda pushed me too it.
I hope that in LWSM I would be able to maybe hit a high 27' or low 28' because they seem to be going faster with the motards in there, but PTwins is "the race."

Sorry folks, it looks like Conor's going to be on punishment next race weekend. Maybe by the time he gets back the old man can pick up some speed!Originally posted by lrrs_704

indeeed... ya probably didn't see me comin into 1 cuz i was so friggin low that I was down by the hot pit wall
Once you passed me (I think it was in the bowl) there was no way I was gonna catch ya at the pace I was going. I was doing consistant 30.3's, then a 29.2 on the last lap where i passed yer dad. I got lucky.

Pete... you were second into Turn 1 on first lap.
You definitely got a lot of people just before the turn... but not the first guy.
Later on in the race we watched a guy try to pass on the inside WAY too late...
He hits the guy that was in front of him and they both run through the grass.... but kept them up.
It was so clear to us that he could not make the pass... don't know what he was thinking!!!
Ahhhhh.... ya know what? you're right... I remember now, I made the pass goin into 1a.... I remember being stoked I was in 1st for a bit comin from the 5th row but not quite gettin the holeshot.
Never the less, you were lookin good out there, C... I had tire warmers so I was confident in my rubber through the first couple laps & had a good pace goin for the first lap, but there was no way I couldn't keep up the pace you were setting for the next few after that, at least not w/o exhausting myself. I'm kinda bummed out in a way that u went down in 11. It's a shame there's no points for most laps led.
Definitely gonna be a great season... Here's to keepin it on two, bro![]()
