    Considering an SV, again. Input?

I've got a line on a 2000 SV. I'll keep the EX but would like to have 2 bikes, and I could ride this elsewhere as well. 8K miles, one owner, street titled. Clip-ons, rearsets, yoshimura slip on, GSXR 1K front end. Seems like a really, really nice and clean bike. Here's what I'm wondering:

Will that gixxer front end force me to run in classes where I'd have to spend serious dough on the engine to keep up?

I'd need race bodywork, right? Assuming I can't run it stock tank & tail, front end nekkid?

Any chance of finding a good shock for it used, or am I going to have to spend a grand?

Is that stock shock going to hold me back?

    Should I buy it?

In novice & amatuer not so much. Expert yes. The only SV class you wont be able to run is LWSS & MWPT
I'd need race bodywork, right? Assuming I can't run it stock tank & tail, front end nekkid?
Yes. you could run no front fairing, but when you travel to other tracks, the aerodynamics will be required.

i found a penske triple for 700 shipped

Is that stock shock going to hold me back?

STOCK EVERYTHING WORKS FINE!!!!!! no need for a shock yet, get the frt end sorted out, stock motor, i did a 1:21 with a stock rear shock and it was fine, get the bike, get used to riding it then worry about upgrades. rick did a 1:16.7 on a stock motor and penske rear shock, so hp isnt needed, my final laptime of the season was a 1:20.1 stock motor penske shock, stock pipe stock jetting pump gas, and dots..

No one knows the seller on here but me and 6 fingers.

If I wanted it, it would be gone by now.

Now buy a Hawk or get off my Forum and stop snaking away the deals!

Oh, and as for the original point of all this I appreciate the replies. I'm working on going to see it soon, I'll probably make the call then. It's this or a MW I think, I could get into a decent MW for less than this will cost by the time it's on the track so it's a tough call. SV is probably smarter, MW is probably more fun

I'm just giving you shit. 6 doesn't want it, and if he did he wouldn't try to grab it anyway if I was going to look at it. Hell, he'll probably go look at it with me. And we all know if you wanted it it'd have been gone in roughly 30 seconds

Richie already told me he wants the info if I don't buy it. If I decide not to he'll get it right then.

GSXR front end = no LWSS or MWPTwin

    You don't NEED bodywork.

Keep an eye out for a used penske or ohlins

Would you go faster with a proper shock? Sure. So in that sense the stock shock will hold you back... but probably not as much as your lack of track time.

I would say Eric's post says it all...first hand experience and lap times to boot. I would vote for getting the thing and not worrying about the rear shock for now. Either way best of luck, I wish you a new fun bike for 2010

Re: Considering an SV, again. Input?

Everyone that knows me and knows racing is giving me the same advice: I've always wanted to race a 600. I got the EX because it's a fun class and everyone said not to learn the basics on the track. I have some track experience at this point, and will still be keeping the EX and getting more, so I think I'm just going to go for what I want, which is a MW. If enough people tell you you're sick... buy a bike that can highside you to the moon. Something like that anyway.

Why will that be a bad thing? You'll just list it for $2200 next month.
