Converting all mounts to dzus fasteners

I am trying to convert all of the bodywork mounting points of my SV to be dzus fasteners. But I've come across an issue with the mounting brackets on the upper.

The brackets are 1/8" thick and the fastener pin cannot grab the wire on the inside due to the added thickness.

I looked to see if they made longer pins, but it doesn't look that way.

    Any suggestions?

They do make longer pins. Look harder.

All the places I looked had a single size for the D-ring fasteners.

    Have any links Mr K?

Edit: The places I did find that mentioned that they have longer stud lengths required ordering a minimum of 100. I only need 5. (and 5 is expensive enough)

FYI Woodcraft sells there own dzus and they are about half the price.

Duncanmoto has some in stock, not sure if he has the correct length for you application?

Thin down the bracket with a grinder perhaps?

Thanks. Looks like Southco ships to companies only.

Looks like either D3-314-413-190 or D3-314-412-190 would do the trick too.

Good call, Jim. The Ducati seem to be a little longer than the ones I bought.

The ones I picked up are 12-13mm in from the inside of the screw head to the tip of the bolt. The Ducati are 17mm. These may do the trick, and they're longer.

Might shoot Ted a PM to see if he has any.

In the below, where is has 12mm for the shaft, I need 15mm to grab the clip on the other side of the bracket.

    Zip ties,

Because in a crash I have found that the Zip ties stretch and break, Absorbing some of the force then the upper will flex a bit The trick is not to have the zip ties too tight or too loose. If you put fasteners on it it will be prettier but even a simple drop will have you replacing fairing stay ears and dicking with fiberglass the next week. everything gets so tight the fiberglass will break.

Never thought of that for the sides. I had thought about it where the fairing connects to the stay, but opted for the pretty look.

    Maybe I'll rethink that.
