If you run into a wall with a helmet on, you still ran into a wall.
After 2 months of doing nothing to the SV, I spent a few hours of 2-wheeled wrenching therapy and managed to:
- Change out the front brake pads
- Swap the rear brake line for a new Spiegler SS line (part of the agreement with Spiegler)
- Changed out the aging rear brake "reservoir" hose for a new setup from an RS125
- Made a new tail mounting hoop, since my first attempt back in December was a horror show
- Put the bike up on jack stands and removed the shock to being to GMD for refresh and a new, shorter reservoir hose
- Started to remove all of the striping and decals off the plastics in preparation for the ECK makeover

Somomma....I just compiled my to-do list and it's looking pretty long.
Can't wait for the season, but wish I had tons of money and a mechanic. Mainly the money.
Don't worry I'm right there with ya. Still in the process of building my suspension. Then have to work on wiring. Need a bazzaz, tune, stands, bodywork painted and repaired, wire in the trailer brake controller in the truck, and work on getting the trailer ready for race season.

Ya no more Hawk...Kinda did a trade with 6. Got back from racing the 600, when the hawk wasn't in racing shape and was hooked.
Money is a bit tight... Just got back to work this week and with my ankle still not at a %100, I only worked like 12hrs this week :/
I also need rearsets, new gearing and chain, battery, helmet, boots, leathers that actually fit, possible some new gloves (thumb has a hole), shifter, I could use some new tires BUT beggars can't be choosers. Multimeter is definitely on the list.
Thanks csmutty, couldn't handle answering that on my own.

Battery - Walmart, get a Cheapy and keep it on a battery tender. Get the cheapy Walmart Schumacker one if you don't have one already.
Gearing and chain - There are a couple different places that you can price out packaged setups. If this bike isn't on the road, you can save some cash on the chain by going with a non o-ring unit, just keep it well lubed.
Helmet - Talk to BJ, he seems to know where all the deals are on that front.
Leathers - AGV makes great low cost entry level suits, see if you can find a local brick and mortar shop who'll work with you on the price. New-Enough is a good place to check also.
Boots - I got no ideas here.
Gloves - I have expensive tastes, might have something to do with wrecking my hand... ?
Thanks Kurlon
I was wondering about the AGV's, I was looking online yesterday at them. They don't seem bad at all, price and material.
Helmet I just got covered. "Family Sponsor/wicked early bday present"
I hear ya on the expensive taste with gloves.... I wrecked me hands from last crash. :/ Sucked.

I know people on here swear by Helds and they are top quality but I've had good luck with A*. In my low side last year either the bar or brake lever went between my pink and ring finger when we hit the ground. bruised my pinky but didn't break it and ripped the finger bridge of the gloves. they've been through a couple other crashes too and held up well. Those are the GP Pros. I also have a pair of GP Pluses which are almost the same as the Pros. the main difference being they don't have the plastic shell over the cuff.

I love my Alpinestar GP Pros. Webbed ring and little finger and good ventilation too.

I'm also in the market for some new gloves, trying to decide between the held phantoms and the gp pros. Consensus here seems to be Helds, but better deals can be found on the gp pros, and I haven't heard anything bad about them either. Also in the market for some warmers, so if anyone is selling, feel free to contact me.
Took a drive to Christians over the weekend and picked up some parts. Shot the shit for him awhile to find out I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, but I'm okay with that. But seriously he helped a ton, gave me some good deals, and literally has at least a crf and a half in parts.
Checked a few things off the list: fluid change, air filter change, valve check, brake bleed, slipper clutch install, new wheels and mounted tires, and put on a couple new pieces of plastic. Pretty productive weekend, still a lot more to do.
A man of many names...Jay, Gennaro, Gerry, etc.
Good lol. I was going to bring them to the ECK meeting today as I brought Chuck his 2 sets...but the michelin rains are MUCH stiffer than the Pirelli tires and I could not get the bead broken for the life of me lol. I will bring the wheels up first weekend for sure.
Thanks dude!
