Yep. Kevin insisted we give him the guy's info and/or not let him go. Of course, we can't do any of that, it would be illegal.
I didn't see the video until a few days later and Scottie and I both were of the opinion that it was in no way the passing rider's fault and we expressed that view to Kevin and to his credit he took the criticism on board and I think he understood our point.

turn one.
Ever watch a Vintage racer? a number of them pretty much go to the cones by the air fences and then turn in. I've seen a handfull do that. Crazy to us seeing we have been somewhat told this is the Fast and safest line. To them it seems like they have been told to go out to the cones then turn in.

Just got home and watched the video... wow, that is ridiculous.
We should put this up next to a video showing how to properly do it and let Penguin use it in their school.
I would have to say this is definitely a 1-off. Thanks for the reminder to all - and never become lazy on the track.

Lol it's a good how not to. That's for sure. Still willing to bet you were aware that no one was behind you.Originally Posted by tsanterre

in all honesty, pitting is no different then riding the racing line. a lot of times i will go into 11 at speed and instead of flicking right for 11a/12 i just go straight into the pits.
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...

I slow way the hell down and even hug the little left kink before 11.

Boom. My normal line vs my pit-in line.
I accelerate and decelerate as I normally do and where I normally would, just not as intense. Maybe 80% throttle and 80% brakes. Everything else is the same.
And at the very least, I'm hand up exiting 10 over the transitions and again entering 11 by the first cone on the left.

same line I use. usually I'll keep my hand up from just after the transition out of 10 all the way till the point of no return where if you tried to make 12 you'd just go over grass. before 11 I might look behind me and put my hand down if there's no one there but I'll put it back again after the apex of 11 just to be sure anyone coming ripping through knows I'm getting off.

Nice job tyler!! And here I was thinking I was the reckless one!!
I will vouch for tyler and say after much practice, he is now an expert pitter outter!

Yep, but that was a pit in. Lol.
Oh I know, his pit in is still terrible.
Getting to the party late. Most important thing is education. As long as you know it's wrong and don't do it again. OK folks lives are at stake!
