There have been two dirty machines that have done well there before, one was even a Honda...

Looking at Sprocket Specialists, it looks like I can get a 17 tooth front and a 37 tooth rear for the katoom... so I *think* that will be tall enough to not wind it out on the banking? Gotta see what's on it currently.

At least I feel like I'd know what I was doing on a big pavement track... I'm going to break something if I try full on supermoto, and I'm not talking about the bike!

That said, if there are any good sumo races coming up... I do have some vacation to burn before October...

nah it was a pretty awesome trip. had a blast, and won a nat' championship but we're buying a house and i'm feeling like i need to give my motor a complete teardown without making it run around daytona again.

if you've never been i'd say go, my only advice is bring a shit-ton of sprockets for whatever bike you have. the track is very sensitive to setup/gearing.

and not that I ride a tard... but I can't see what could possibly be fun about riding one at Daytona. I don't recall seeing any last fall.... Just my .02

Based on the results posted, the last tard I can pick out ran in 07, Honda 450, got third in ULSB. I have to verify my interpretation of the rules, but I think my KTM would get wedged into ULSB, although I think I could argue a LWSS entry thanks to KTM's SMR line... if not I dunno as I'd try it. My other option would be the GS, but it doesn't stand a chance even in LWSS.

The fun would be if I thought I had a chance of putting up a fight.

...actually, looking at the LWSS rules some more... I wonder if I can find a built KTM motor... it'd be legal in whatever chassis I wanted to put it in... a punched out single making 60hp in a nice light chassis... damn it I have to stop reading rule books while looking at engine specs at work.

A CCS license. That's about it. Yes, you could be a national champion without ever even entering another race by winning this one.
