    Very interesting Development

Hopefully all issues will be resolved quickly.

    E-mail from the USM :

You might have heard the rumors, so here it is.

The United Safety Marshalls (as an organization) will not be at the track this weekend. The same familiar faces will be there, but only as individuals working the event. The USM and NHMS could not resolve insurance issues and the USM organization had to step away.

We will be transmitting a list of signed up workers to the track for the 1st event Wednesday evening. If you want to work this weekend and haven't signed up yet, send a note to usm.cw.signup@gmail.com before Wednesday night.

The following only pertains to the 1st race weekend, as adjustments are sure to follow.

What Does This Mean To You?

If you signed up to work this weekend, the track has stated they will be hiring you as track employees at $9.00 per hour. There will be employment packages available in the Media Center (next to the Scales Garage) starting Friday afternoon for you to complete. You must bring two forms of ID, just like any other hiring situation. You must bring a drivers license or other state issued photo id. A copy of your birth certificate, social security card or passport will do for the second ID. You will get paid by the track. That's all we know about that.

Be at the scales garage Saturday by 7:00am to pick up your track supplied radios, flags, helmets (for hot track work), etc. That's when the day starts. Punch in, sign out your equipment, get your assignments, etc. Track check @ 7:55am just like last year.

The track will provide infield admission, box lunches and tickets for the Saturday night BBQ. No word on camping, so plan on paying for it. Find a friend and double up if you want to save a little money.

The track will be responsible for set up, assignments, crash management (including clean up and clean up materials), all personnel issues, the whole show.

There will be a quick debriefing at the end of the day. Please plan on attending.

You will provide the experience and expertise to make it all work safely and effectively.

    What You Need To Bring...

There are many details to be worked out, but here are some things you might want to bring.

A chair, water, sun screen, water, bug spray, water... We don't know what's going to be supplied and what's not, so cover yourself.

    What It All Means

These are our friends, family members and loved ones out there competing for little more than bragging rights. You are the best corner workers in the country. The skill, experience and professionalism you folks bring is what makes an LRRS event the safest and best managed event of it's kind. Let's continue to make it the safest venue possible and enjoy the weekend.

    See you all on Saturday.

It means the track is running the show, everything. We're hoping that the experienced core group of captains and workers show up and work for the track. I believe Laura will be there to help with assignments but, I can't speak for her.

We have had to claim it for the past couple years, they stopped handing out wads of cash at the end of the day and started sending paychecks and 1099s.

Might actually work out better though, since now we will be taxed as hourly employees and not contractors...But never been in it for the $.

Oxx, you coming up this weekend?

Yeah, I like the new bike pickup rig too, although I thought I heard it was leaking tranny fluid on the track at one point?
