    drill press

After a huge amount of frustration trying to drill bolts/nuts for safety wire I've decided I need a drill press.

One question...how do you clap/vise the bolts/nuts to the drill press?

for exampe, if I bought this:

Northern Industrial 5-Speed Bench Drill Press with Laser — 1/2 HP | Drill Presses | Northern Tool + Equipment

How do I hold the nuts/bolts on the drill press?

Do you just hold the nuts by hand?

    Re: drill press

How many more things are we gonna need to safety wire? And if we were smart we'd pull the nuts and put them in a vise and drill there, but Im lazy.

this is as frustrating as trying to drill for safety wire

I thought I asked a pretty specific question.

I have a "flat vise" that came with my drill press.

It's only about 2 inches high and it lays on the drill press platform.

Don't know where you'd buy it though...

Bring it to me if you want... we can get you all kinds of hooked up, kid. It'd be a regular Zip-Tie Alley safety wire brouhaha.

If you want to get a press and a vise, I'd highly recommend a small X-Y vise... Centering the drill with a standard drill press vise will be a huge pain in the arse. They're relatively cheap at use-enco.com. Might even find one in stock at Horror Freight, um, I mean Harbor Freight.

My grandfather was a mech e and a machineist. He had all these really heavy vises, clamps, v-blocks ... he used to hold things. My grandmother sold every thing when he died. You couldn't imagine how many dies and what not he had.
