that’s why I asked why you guys don’t offer the header bolts pre-drilled.

is there just not a market for them, or is it difficult to machine to the pre-drilled holes?

yeah I could take off all the nuts on mine and the chances of the headers going anywhere are still pretty slim. the whole system was a good pain to get it all together and on the bike in the right place. took some work to get everything lined up just right where the pipes all fit into each other and into the cylinder head. plus all the nuts are under tension from the flanges so if they back off then you really did something wrong in the install.

The nuts shouldn't be under THAT much tension from the flanges. You're pressing into some form of a compressible gasket, which isn't springy. Typical header nut torque is pretty low too, add thermal shock and expansion/contraction and at times I'm amazed those nuts stay on in the first place. (7.2ft/lbs on my machine for example.)

I always just wire the two header bolts to each other and yeah it's only the header bolts on the outside that need to be done on an r6. Save yourself some headache, John and just go to the dealer and buy 4 new bolts. Million times easier than drilling hardened used header bolts.

Usually there is enough thread left on the header stud to double nut it with lower grade hardware that can be easily drilled before hand. Unless of course you have bolts instead of studs.

Have you gotten them locally or online? If I go locally, they may come in by August . . . 2015.
