Re: Dumbest thing you've ever done on the track
So apparently the EX500 qualifies for just about every race in LRRS... so i signed up for Formula 1, Formula 2 and Rookie 1. it wasnt until i was sitting on the pregrid that i noticed i was gridded between an 848 and an R1 and that the lightweight wave was going off behind me... lol i raced both of my races on sat after the rookie race with the heavyweights. i was able to get this mistake changed in time for my race on sunday but now i know. i feel like i put up a pretty good fight tho on sat :D

Oh no, you're not getting off that easy. Tell us about the time you decided to skip the back part of the course and take the split.
Mid-race.

Re: Dumbest thing you've ever done on the track
and i caught a false neutral on my 2nd downshift into T3 and took the 3/10 split which sent me to the back of the field and had been in position to knock off a couple more bikes ahead of me.

Re: Dumbest thing you've ever done on the track
I always used 3rd gear on the ex for turn 3 for that reason. Stupid false neutrals going to 2nd gear. Wasn't an issue if you had the FOG undercut gears.

Yeah, but as a novice, that's just more race time. I used to enter HWSB with my GS500E... and podium!

I saw that posted on the window and figured I best stand clear from #345 going forward.

Yea... I sold it to a co-worker. I told him about the freek reverse thing. He laughed at me. Months later, he stalled the bike while climbing up a steep hill trail riding in PA. Then the trusty Bultaco rolled backwards started again (in reverse of course) and ran full throttle (still in reverse) back to the bottom of the hill. Ooooops! That had to hurt.....
My friend still reminds me of the "bike that tried to kill him" whenever we visit. .

Should be quite a few "got run over" stories. It's the new black!

I'm gonna go with grabbing a fist full of brakes going into turn 1 and testing 3 sections of air fence.

No way. Its the Duncan...he did it years before Iannone.

Re: Dumbest thing you've ever done on the track
Nice bump! I have one, not as good as Duncan's. I fell off the bike in t1 during a race. My foot slipped off the inside peg right before I flicked it in. I held on through the turn with my leg dragging and crawled back up in t1a.

Re: Dumbest thing you've ever done on the track
Ran over Kyle
Ran out of gas down the front straight in practice. About the start finish line
Tipped over 2 feet from my garage heading out to a race

Not quite as good, but likely in the running.

T1. Some dampness. Tried a different line pre-turning later than I normally do, got off the dry line into the darker pavement (and knew it). Panicked or straight up forgot what the hell I was doing and stabbed a ton of right lever. Down she goes.
Related: First turn of practice for the AMA Supermoto last Friday. Got to the dirt section on lap 1. Over the top, down the drop.. wondering wtf I was doing. Grabbed a handful of brake at the bottom and the bike dropped like a ton of bricks.

Re: Dumbest thing you've ever done on the track
Forgot to set my pressures after having new tires mounted, so I was at 40+ psi front and rear. I ended up 4th place with my best time to date.
Even dumber? I haven't come close to that time yet, even with proper pressures and a year racing experience under my belt.

Wow, I left 40+ lbs in my rear tire on a cool day at thompson and on lap 2 watched the rear end of my bike pass the front in T3. I was still on board thinking of how to save it, then of how bad the crash would be. I let go of the bike. I guess that was the smart part.

Re: Dumbest thing you've ever done on the track
Ran dunflops without warmers at a TD. Binned it in the first corner of the first session, going MAYBE 25 mph.
And... recently got the shifter stuck in the strap of my Sidi boots on the first lap of a race. Spent the whole first lap in 3rd gear trying to kick my foot out from under the shifter, gave up at T11 and pitted in for a DNS and 0 points.

Weird. I've never had that issue with my Sidi. Did you not tie them down?
