Rookie weekend:
Got lapped in the rookie race.
Went off track in turn 11 durring morning practice and pulled the front brake. The bike immediately disappeared from under me so I was still in a riding position without a bike. Did a couple of cartwheels and stopped. I then realized that I was OK.
After getting lapped in the last lap of my first race and that rider getting the checkered flag, I thought that I needed to still finish my laps so I continued around again.
After reading this thread, can I just say how much more comfortable I feel about doing a rookie race next year?
Second rece weekend this season...
Went to Sunday's rider's meeting, went directly to the Checkered Flag fine dining establishment, ordered the pulled pork bbq sandwich and a bowl of chilli. I was racing the GTL... I won't be making THAT mistake again. Some lessons you only need to learn once.

I'm not sure which was worse, that the ENTIRE garage area stopped, looked up...then went back to what they were doing, or that two guys ran out from the tech garage to help me pick it up. Explaining the new scuff on my upper and broken parts when I got back to my pit area was interesting too...

I was riding my mtn bike past the T3 bleachers a few years ago, I'd been practicing riding stoppies on it all day. Only at this point I was a number of beers deep and decided I was going to try and coast a long one.... got up to speed and instantly flipped right over the handlebars.
got quite an applause for it from a lot of people that were watching ha
Hahaha, some of these are awesome.
I rode DOWN turn 4 once.... Yes, during a race
I had crashed after I just barely caught the curbing by the beach & couldn't turn the bike around any other way cuz so many people were riding at me Think I was in first place at the time, too.
Had to have a little chat with Eric after that one.... He was almost speechless so he basically just shook his head & laughed out of pity.

Oh, here's another one....
I told some poor kid who was at his first track day that I'd follow him around knowing he was on cold tires & didn't think to tell him that he shouldn't try & impress me...
John Owens got a sweet pic of that

2 things.....
I did a track day 4 years ago and on the last session I tried to follow jeff wood on my 99 cbr 900rr. I crashed bad in turn 6 and just this year i finished putting my 900rr back together.
This past race weekend I havent been through the "NEW" turn 1. The last time I raced was when we had the barriers around the oval. Anyway, during practice on sat i kept going through the old turn 1 and wondered to myself what the problem was....I thought to myself-this shits easy! and continued to use the old corner for the whole practice. I got black flagged with the orange ball and kept saying to myself...must be for another rider....on the last lap a motard went around me on the front straight and he went way deep and then walah! I saw the new turn 1-how the fuck did i miss that? when i went into pit I got a taking to and boy did I feel fuckin stupid!
