it doesn't like spinning much more than 10k. Shift around 9.5-10.

if the frame starts wobbling at speed, slide back in the seat a little.

be smooth w/ imputs & body movements or expect frame flex.

other than that... it's a motorcycle... flog the fukker

Shift below 10000 rpm and "Flog the Fucker" Good advice!

Where should I keep the revs then? Where is the meat of the power?

Don't worry about how fast you are. Instead, concentrate on smoothness. Speed will come.

Things I have learned for being a successful EX500 rider.

    1. Shift below 10000 rpm and "Flog the Fucker"
    2. Power (what little it has) is in the 7-10k range.
    3. Pray for the 17 inch tire model
    4. As with any bike Be smooth. (what is that saying, slow is smooth and smooth is fast???)
    5. if the frame starts wobbling at speed, slide back in the seat a little.
6.be smooth w/ imputs & body movements or expect frame flex

    Anything else?

well i edited my first post in case you didn't see it.... nothin special.

It's a bike, just like any other bike... you get on it, you ride it, you learn it.

lots of tips. youre on an EX500? bring something to eat because that straightaway is 1/2 a mile long

seriously... (this is mainly a late apex track)

T1: alot of the guys on fast bikes can run the inside line here. not you. youre slow and need all the cornerspeed you can get. there are 2 brass caps out there in T1 (i dont know what they are but i swear they are there) youll see them during class (when you are going slow. just drift out a little and you will see them. go to the outside of them (just miss them) and start bring it back in tight. this makes T2 and T3 almost a straight therefore giving a chance to pass on the inside of T3.

T3&4 nothing real special. late apex both

T5: there is a small hill between 4&5 this means you cant see 5. get close to the wall and just after you go under the bridge there is a small building on your left (for time slips for drag racing) between the bridge and this "hut" is your turn in. throw it in there. there is alot of grip and trust me there is track over there

T6-T10: this is where it gets trickey or what i call "fun" remember this is a LATE APEX TRACK... especially through here. im not sue about the EX but youre gonna be doing some tap dancing on the shifter through here.T6 looks like 2 turns but its 1 long one. on the brakes (grab a downshift?) and work your way through the turns. IIRC.. there is an "oil stain" (unless they resurfaced the track) between T8 and T9, its not slippery but go to the right of it (late apex) to cut left for T9 which will straighten T10 a little especially if ride the rumble strips in T10.

T11 (aka- the tower turn) this ones tough. everytime i thought i had figured it out someone passed me through here again.. late apex. all i know is.. aim for the wall/cornerstaion on the inside of T11 just before the straight. i think theres a haybale there. you should be on it hard here just let the bike drift out towards the opposite wall on the straight. the DRAGSTRIP starting line LOOKS slick. its not. its rubber from drag cars. the blue checkerd paint between the lanes where the tree goes can be sketchy on a big bike but you should be OK.

thats all i can think of. hope it helps. just remember LATE APEX. if you fuck up anywhere between T5-T10 your fucked until you get to T11 or the straight. youll lose speed, momentum, and most importantly... rhythm. when you "get" this track its way fun. my roommate hated it but hes an idiot. no really he is.

if you get the chance to cornerwork before your races try to get T4. you can see the whole track except T11. your wicked close to the action and youre in the shade you can also see where the turn in is for T5 and the big bikes wheelie about a foot away from you

any questions just ask me, or Ted (hell be easy to spot with a bunch of orange bikes) or Jewitt.

good luck man, hope that helped
