Going over the LRRS tech requirements, I see a couple requirements that I just don't have a good mental image for.

7.6 - Fork drain plugs must be wired or taped. I'm assuming on conventional forks that means the damping rod bolt on the bottom of the fork. Would one just duct tape the bottom of the fork and call it 'good' or is there a set of safety wire pliers small enough to do an effective job in that little space?

7.9 - Axles and nuts must be cotter pinned or safety wired. Would I torque the axle nut up, mark it, remove, reassemble to the mark and drill a whole through both with a drill press or is there a better method? On the front I'm not quite sure what I'd safety wire too, do you drill your lowers?

7.17 - Catch Pans - Is it really as simple as a pan with an absorbent pad hung under the motor?

This is all theory at this point as I don't have a machine, basically doing the 'what if' game in my head while reviewing the rules.

Also noticed there's no mention of master clips on chains. I would have figured at the very least they'd be outlawed or some mention of securing the clip?

fork drains i think only have to be taped or safety wired when they are on the exterior of the leg.

belly pans, i do not think they are that nuts about if you are running a motard.

Axle bolts can be drilled and wired exactly as you stated.

If I don't run a motard, do I just line the bottom of the fairing with paper towels? : )

If you want your bike to burst into flames that would be a good idea.

Bellypans need to contain the amount of oil held in the engine, not absorb it.

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

I got nothing yet, figuring on an older light machine, EX500 or the likes at the moment. In other words, I'm twiddling my thumbs worrying about something I've no control over just yet. Given the last race of the season is less than a month away, I'm not likely to have anything by then so this is all just a thought process to sort concepts out for me. I'm one of those annoying types that likes to know everything before I even turn one twist of safety wire.

the EX500s dont need a bellypan because they dont have enough ground clearance. you will already be dragging the headers and stuff. there are enough EX racers on here that im sure someone lives near you to help you prep it but if you are buying an EX500 race bike then chances are that all that work is already done.

What is everyone using for catch cans? I took a stroll through Parts Unlimited, LP, etc and couldn't find any. I'm guessing baby bottles are not the hot ticket?

Serious? Maybe I won't sweat the catch bottle so much when the time comes. Cool.

catch bottle can be any bottle that'll hold fluid... poland springs, coke 1liter, listerine, home depot generic, etc, etc.

you outta buy doc's hawk. it's well setup suspension-wise and you can tinker with the motor to your heart's content

(assuming you pass the interview process of course)

I'm starting to think there is a conspiracy going on to get me into full size road racing now... Doc's got a perfect bike for sale, and oh, he's offered it for my rookie race... Now I find out my friend who's basically taught me how to race on minis is jonesing hard to be back at Loudon, talking like he will be throwing something on the track next year no matter what... The idea of a 620 Monster so he can run Production Twins came up, then swap on some slipons and a PC3 and thrash another class with the bike that same weekend, which means I'd be able to race him (He'll be an expert, me the lowly novice, so not for a year or so at least.).

I guess I should be thankful Doc won't take plastic and my checking account is rather thin at the moment?
