Garages and Parking

    Garages and Parking

so there was security during the weekend walking around the garages, checking for parking passes and writing down number plates.
I did not hear of any issues or cars being towed but make sure you got your passes displayed and leave some sort of contact info on your vehicle just in case.

I think nothing should be towed unless there is a complain issue. For example I had family visit me over the weekend and the great dudes from PPS allowed them to park in one of their spots. Obviously there was no parking permit on the car but if the garage that I am parked in front of doesnt care whats the big deal?

    Re: Garages and Parking

Yeah, I had a short conversation about it with the security guy.

From everything I can tell the track administration is trying to help those who actually rent garages by keeping people who are not renting garages from taking up our parking spaces. In the past there have been people without a garage space who have "camped" near the garages, which causes a problem with space for those actually renting garages.

I appreciate them helping with this.

I would like for there to be some allowances for things like more than 4 people in a garage, as well as day visitors.

It's not even difficult. I was a pedestrian/spectator/guest on Saturday and parked in the lot between the garages (near the Smoke Shack). There was plenty of parking and it was convenient as hell.

    Re: Garages and Parking

I spoke to Tom a couple times this weekend, because there were some parking concerns over in Center garage. From what I gathered, his concerns were twofold:

    1) making sure the people who pay to rent garages have their spaces
    2) keeping a lane open for emergency vehicles ALWAYS

To that end, he did clarify that you do NOT just get the whole space extended from your garage to the fences to fill with as many cars as you can fit; you get 4 parking passes, and you can use them to put vehicles in those spaces. Visitors should do what Colin did, park at the Smoke Shack lot, which is right in between the garages and not in anyone's way.

He did conceded that IF we can, collectively, keep the travel lane in front of the garage bays CLEAR, they will be less concerned with how people use their spaces. This means nothing in the space extended past the white line(trailer doors, grills, etc), and anything outside the garage bays(chairs, pitbikes, dogs) extending out no more than 5 feet from the bay door.

He also clarified that no one is supposed to be pitting inside the garage paddock area, except those in garages.

I'm sure there will be some official clarification of this between now and Round 2.

The track is also trying to ensure that anyone that should be paying for camping space... is in fact paying.

LRRS is a business so I can understand that, and in fact will help those that are already paying - more people paying should help keep the cost down.

Sounds like there are 3 main things - at least for Center Garages. Not sure if North Garage has the same issues.

1 - Ensure that people are buying their passes.
2 - Ensure people are parking where they should - I am waiting on clarification about guests that come watch - if there is space in your assigned area.
3 - Ensure an emergency lane is always left open.

This means no more bikes parked in the lot under canopies. You either rent garage space or park in the outer area.

Thanks for taking the lead on this Tony.

Not sure about taking the lead, I originally just wanted clarification.

Most of us are not trying to do anything "wrong". Give us a clear set of rules or guidelines, and the majority of us will abide.

By the same token, let's not needlessly inconvenience people.

Making sure the racers, guests, the track management and the track security people are all on the same page is the key.

    Re: Garages and Parking

OK... this info is for the Center Garage area. I figure I would post the info here to get any questions or clarifications out of the way... then will post up on FB and BORN, etc.

1 - the lane directly outside the garages must stay open for emergency vehicles. No tailgates hanging over the white line - if you want to leave your tailgate open, then pull your trailer further forward. If you are planning to sit outside the garages on chairs, please stay within 6 feet of the building and don't let kids and dogs use the lane as a play area.

2 - All vehicles should have parking stickers Each garage gets 4 passes, please put them on your vehicles. Guests should either be given a pass or park in the restaurant area.

3 - No parking of bikes outside of the garages Only people renting garage space should be here, so there's no reason to have bikes outside of the garages.

4 - Only people renting one of the Center garages may park along the fenceline. If you do park like this, do not "spread out" excessively with large awnings, etc. Leave a secondary travel lane so people parking in the lined spots can get out without having to back up.

5 - People parking along the fenceline should share the electric boxes to reduce load on the garage breakers. The garage breakers often get overloaded and pop. If some of the trailers that park in the parallel lines can run their cords to the fenceline (instead of the garages), then the load on the garage breakers will be reduced.

Is it going to come out in a more official capacity (i.e. Email from NHMS?) for those that aren't on here?

Not sure... I told Tom I would spread the word. Hopefully we can self police and not have to deal with the security guards too much

Agreed. Even with the huge population in our area I don't think it was ever a huge problem for us. Kinda sucks that other people had issues & they had to crack down on everyone.

Friday night before round 1 I was getting texts from the other ECK guys in a semi-panic because security kept climbing up their asses about not having the garage passes in their vehicles, but of course the front desk wouldn't give them out to anyone but the garage owner...

Well, Steve sent the paperwork in on my behalf to renew our garage rental under my name, but when I got to the track it turned out that they decided to put the garage rental in Steve's name... and Steve wasn't coming....

So I did what any honest racer would do.... I told them I was Steve, forged his signature and took the damn passes.
