2011 Pit Bike Race CHAMPION!
I am 54. I run 2 bikes with the USCRA. I will be racing Monday.
Get on the track and put your face shield down. Haul ass and stay in front is best way to go. The bike has no idea how old we are.

Ride to live, live to ride
For good? Oh hell no. Done for the year because I'm on crutches. What happened? Richie and I were playing grab ass and I got a real good one in. Unfortunately when I turned to run I snapped my femur.... or something like that.
100% agree with Richie on this one. Plus, he's moved to Florida to be with his woman. I doubt he'll be back playing grab ass at NHMS for awhile....One in a gazillion thing. Take everyone else's advice and just dooooo it.
If you're on the fence, come on out and parouse the paddock. The people are top rate. Ride smart, be safe and you won't be in over your head regardless of age.

In light of this topic, shouldn't the posts be made in a cave on stone and with earthen paint?
Tim, I know there are some very fast older guys out there, but after seeing you ride at Union, I am pretty certain that you are going to be at the top of the class! Looking back, let me tell you that every 10 years makes a heck of a difference - mostly in stamina/endurance. I can still go pretty fast, just not for so long.
I've never been more serious when I say conditioning and mindset will set you free.
I'm old, fat, and my cardio sucks but still get around the track at a good clip.
I'm just more fragile and take longer to heal when I break.
Mindset is everything....that and Balls.

Old Fart!....Old fart!!....okay I'm an old fat.
Went out and rode the track experience with Penguin again yesterday. Had a great time but still have a lot to learn before I put a number on the bike. I was getting a major ass kickin' by a 23 year old on a ZX10.
I spent some time working with an instructor on body position etc. He told me I have the chops but need the confidence (balls) to let it run deeper into the turns. Still having a hard time relaxing when pushing hard.
I'm finding that out! If I relax and don't try to go fast... I go fast. If I try to go fast I freeze up and go slow.Mindset is everything....that and Balls.
Glad to hear you'll be back! For good? Oh hell no. Done for the year because I'm on crutches. What happened? Richie and I were playing grab ass and I got a real good one in. Unfortunately when I turned to run I snapped my femur.... or something like that
