To me this is amazing. Ape 5.5 SVX Motor and frame a hair over 220lbs.

I'll find the pics of the Roland Sands version, he got creative with the exhaust and bodywork.

Problem with that thing is going to be the maint interval. Hawk's are mostly a gas/oil/go job, that sucker's worse maint than a built CRF450...

    RSD SVX 4.5

If I had the cash I'd build one, but the bikes are too damn spendy, too damn fragile, and too much of a PITA to tune still. If I ever do one of these conversions, it'll be YZF based, at least based on the info I have right now. : )

214lbs wet sans gas, purpose built. Note it doesn't have a flat rear swingarm so the geometry is actually working in it's favor. Plus it's damn sexy!

I'm waiting for the official Aprilia built one, but yea, that's fucking insane. Ever since they released the 5.5 motor people have wanted it in a real chassis (non motard) for roadracing. SICK

    Re: Hawk Of the Future

Is Aprilia actually cooking up something in house? I know they've worked with some others to adapt either the motor or SVX into road race machines, hadn't heard that they were finally listening to customer demand and doing a production version?

Probably wouldn't be all that much demand outside of Loudon
How well would something like that do on a larger track?
Don't get me wrong, though. I def wanna hump it.

people race RS125s all across the country...as long as they can find a class to stick it in competativly. i'd imagine you could use it to beat up SV 650s even at larger tracks.

Maybe that's it, then... run it against SV's
Otherwise wouldn't you need to build a class around it?... couldn't run it against RS125's and at a larger track you're not likely to have a motard class... My point has nothing to do with how awesome the bike is (I assure you, I DO want to hump it)... Who would want to be the first to buy one if you can't race it in any established classes? If nobody would want to be the first to buy it why would Ape want to build it?

Don't know... what classes do you guys think it would fit into?

good point. besides, actual roadracing is hard motard engines, even at short louden.

i'm sure you can fit them in to some established class though, otherwise why would people be building them?

...and yes, i think we can all agree that is a very humpable bike!!

    I already did...twice!

Wouldn't this fit in the middle weight ptwins class (assuming ape actually made it a prod bike)? Is that something that is run anywhere else?
