I know, I know, I am asking too many goddamn questions about getting into racing, but I like to know everything before I get to the track and look like a jackass.

Should I pick up another helmet (or two) for racing? Or should I just use my street helmet until I (hopefully not soon) crash, or its old and time to get a new one?

I got two arais for the street that I haven't touched since last year and two new HJCs that I use for the track and street now. If you think you may crash and want to get back in the race, have a spare. I like to get right back up and push, unless it's a hard crash and I can't see. Even in practice saturday I was yelling at the cornerworker, 'tech the bike, get me back out there' If you think a crash will rattle you enough to sit you down for the weekend, don't bother. I bought two $80 HJCs and a $20 tinted visor which isn't bad.

Questions are fine. I asked a bah-gillion of them over the winter and I'm still asking plenty.

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

Just be sure to have a newer non-crashed helmet.
I prefer to always wear a good helmet, Shoei or Arai, but I see plenty of guys out there with less expensive helmets.
Its worth the money in my opinion.
You helmet does go through Tech inspection too, so it has to be un-damaged and meet certain requirements.
Most inportantly be sure its a snug tight fitting helmet.
You don't want to pick your head up coming into Turn 1 and have you helmet bobbing around on your head.

The requirement is that your lid be Snell2000 or better.

However many you plan to buy, make sure you get them with the Snell stickers.

I would recommend two at the track for racing, if something stupid happens to one, like a visor or chin strap failure, you'll have a back-up to continue the race day.

buy your lid based on safety and comfort, not on a brand name.

Crashing is part of racing, you're right HB, it's a when, not an if.
