I'm Lazy: Tell me about Homestead and ROC

I'm sure this info is all somewhere but I'm lazy.

It sounds like there are two FL events this winter. Homestead and Daytona ROC.

What are the dates/details of both? Do both have a Friday practice and weekend races, etc?

From people who have done both, which is better if I could only do one?

What kind of costs are we talking to get all my shit down there?

Do either require me to do anything to my bike outside of LRRS rules and maybe changing my gearing?

    Other input?

Do Daytona just because its Daytona. Everyone needs to ride it once.

Homestead is supposed to be a lot more fun to ride though. Never been there myself

Homestead is the anti-Loudon. Id do Daytona over Homestead just cause its Daytona as Scott said.

Re: I'm Lazy: Tell me about Homestead and ROC

I did Daytona ROC back in '98. Cool memories and nice to say I did it but, eh. The banking is way cool and unlike anything elsewhere. I agree everyone should do it once, but honestly I've had more fun at other tracks and didnt have to spend as much of a fortune in the process. Maybe a re-visit is in order one more time before I quit...
So yeah, do Daytona just because its Daytona.

Re: I'm Lazy: Tell me about Homestead and ROC

Bring 2000 to get your truck/ trailer there (tolls there and back, gas, hotel, etc), 1000 to operate the bike (race entries, etc) and get a Westhold transponder (rent, purchase, etc).

Go OEM gearing at a minimum on your R6 and "no" on the bike prep if you're racing under CCS.

EDIT: Let me know if you want/ need pit help. Apparently the new job has me accruing (sp?) vacation time quicker than I thought.

Re: I'm Lazy: Tell me about Homestead and ROC

yes i'll go if you want to.

there will be some sort of friday track time (CCS practice, track day, etc) available.
the CCS opener for 2012 was on Feb 11-12 in Homestead. I'd assume it'll be around the same time for 2013.

Re: I'm Lazy: Tell me about Homestead and ROC

Since we are in the spirit of being lazy, is there any racing in December/Jan in FL (besides CCS or WERA)? I have two family members (well like family) that just moved down there. Both are within an hour of daytona so I have a good reason to make the trip. I was told they only have ROC and two track days a year at Daytona so thats probably not an option. Neither WERA or CCS have dates down there in late Dec/Jan either.
