    Ducati Withdraws from WSBK

    http://superbikeplanet.com/2010/Aug/100827a.htm

This should be interesting.... many will see them as whining, I see it as a logical thing to do as no other factories are in WSBK at the same level, and it should open the door for some top private teams.

I don't see it as whining, I see it as another manufacturer cutting costs due in part to the economic conditions. They just lasted a couple years longer than everyone else, which is pretty amazing since Ducati is a tiny company compared to the likes of Yamaha, Honda, etc.

"Recently the Superbike World Championship, according to the current regulations, has been interpreted as moving more towards competition between prototypes rather than for bikes derived from production machines."

The lines between MotoGP and WSBK are starting to blur. MotoGP is moving towards production engines and cutting costs, WSBK is using a lot of one off parts and is getting more expensive.

Ducati get air intake restrictors and weight added. Might be in objection of that.
