Jeff smokes the Homestead track record.

Just got a update from Jeff last night. He smoked the Homestead lap record while riding a GSXR1000 yesterday. Beat out AMA and MotoGP 250 Wildcard rider Barrett Long and AMA rider Roberto Pietro.

Also he's got a GSXR1000 lined up for Daytona's American Superbike race that's the 'real deal'. A bike built by one of the top AMA teams....

I forgot to mention that Jeff set the track record at Homestead back in December. http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/...?article=35142

So he smoked the record he set 2 months ago.

This could be a big year for privateers. Does Jeff think the playingfield has been leveled at all with the factories kinda pulling back?

I hope he gets some great results.

I'd be interested to hear an answer to this as well.

Note: The 1000 for Daytona is ONLY for Daytona at this point. Unfortunately a deal isn't in place for the entire season. If anyone wants to help out though feel free to drop me a PM

Paul: Word on the street is the fields will definitely be closer this year. The homologated parts listings + spec fuel and tires is a help in keeping the Factories from being unobtanium. Unobtainium is def limited far far more this year. No more custom frames, super trick forks, etc etc. That said Neil Hodgeson on his factory-Honda prepped CBR1000RR has been the fastest at the last two tests so... I know teams like M4 and Jordan are chomping at the bit to get going this season, that should tell you something

The class to watch out for will be Daytona Sportbike! That class is STACKED with talent and the bikes are far more limited now. The spec-DOT Dunlops are sucking ass compared to last years tires (2-3 seconds slower at the Fontana test than the 2008 test). The word is the tires have basically 'no grip' but then again... the factory guys aren't getting the 'good tires' anymore.

Going to be some close races and lot more dicing methinks across the board. We'll see. Have to remember that the teams with the big budgets are still going to be the best prepared, best equipped, and have (arguably) the best talent.

All that said would Jeff have done far better at VIR last year with the 2009 rules/tires/fuel... YES!

Sounds good, I can't wait to watch some good racing in the US... although SS was good last year.

Tino was pushing him all day. Time to read the manual and find the "fast" setting for the camera. He had enough of a lead to pick it up right out of Turn 12.

When are they gonna get some HOT chic's to work the line! I mean Jeff must have been closing his eyes as he got close to the line! Wide load there I'd say!

    Nice work Jeff!

Ha! Trust me I've been working that angle for over a year. Unfortunately alot of pieces need to line up for certain things to work.

Think the 200 is LIVE and American Superbike is tape-delayed.
