    Lap Timer...

I ended up scooping Chris Bruno's (Slide Rule Racing) old lap timer. I'm basically wondering how they work so I know where to put the receiver. How do they pick up the signal from the transmitters?

    (Chris is away on business)

The one we put on dereks bike had an infared reciever that picked up a signal from a beacon on the front straight. I think we mounted the reciever on his left side fairing just under the clipons facing towards the pit wall when on the front straight.

Unfortunately infra-red is light, not radio so you need to point it somewhere towards the beacon.

Okay, cool. But some say the transmitters are on the outside of 12, others say along pit wall....
