This sounds pretty sucky for the people that make the show. The Racers. I hope they pull it together and don't fuck up now that the ball is rolling in the right direction.

Total fuckshow, and it's a real shame considering how good the racing has been...

It must have really torn him apart to lose her.

such a shame to see those working hardest at this, the ones racing and their crews, to have to deal with such incompetent BS. The more things change, the more they stay the same (or get worse).

Wow. Hopefully something changes quickly. If that rule is enforced, AMA racing just got a lot more expensive -- needing multiple sets of leathers and bodywork if you want to run events other than AMA? Going to get to the point where some of the non-factory guys are just going to run ASRA, WERA, etc. where they have a shot at contingency money.

A paradigm shift to another series... would that really be so bad, if said other series is run professionally? I've said it before, if the AMA can't get it's sh*t together... someone else will / should.

The logo thing by AMA, is not unheard of, most racers if you show up to a WERA race with CCS Logos are going to ask you cover those up with tape or remove. Same thing with Leathers. The thing John is upset about and he is spot on is just because Cortech gave AMA $$ to be a title sponsor - that should not have to mean a rider that is sponsored by Alpinestars, Vanson, Pilot or who ever should have to run a competing logo decal on their motorcycle. For each class in the AMA the tech sticker has a small logo with the series sponsor - usually placed on the corner of the number plate. Not a big deal in years past - old 600 Supersport comes to mind... Honda Pro Oils 600 Supersport was the class name and their AMA Tech Decal logo was placed on each bike as it rolled through tech. It didnt really matter because if you were sponsed by Maxima or Spectro or Valvoline your sponsor sticker was much more prominent - and larger. But now they stepping beyond that and trying for force riders/teams to do more than just the little tech sticker.

Its really silly, but in this economy and not alot of corporations looking to spend money -especially the Manufacturers that supported AMA in years past - the AMA must have thought this was the way to attract class sponsors.

John is usually 'spot on' on all these issues and brings them to lights. AMA is too controling for forsure..but my original point is, if you were to do 1 AMA event, you wouldnt need a 2nd set of leathers - only removed or duct tape the offending logos.

And the days of true contingency hunters bouncing from series to series to make a living are long gone. Yamaha pays 500 to win 1 race at one weekend with LRRS. All the manufacturers pulled the contingency programs when new bike sales hit the toilet. The days of driving to VIR with the chance to win 8000 in Kawasaki or Suzuki moeney no longer exsist.

i've yet to run into a issue with ccs or wera about running the competitors sticker. i think they both realize its such a moot point to make the customer go through the hassle. hell Sean joked about putting the CCS sticker i gave him on his truck. dmg is just playing by the nascar rulebook. if we can't make a dime off of it we don't want it in our series & this is mine, you do it our way or get lost.
