Cool Light Trailer - Stinger Folding Trailer

    Hi,

I am looking to purchase a light trailer to be able to pull it with a Prius for the LRRS events ...
I was looking into Kendon ones (new range around 2.5-3k: too much $$) and Stinger Folding Trailer ( http://www.pashnit.com/product/sting...er_buynow.html which goes for about 1.5k ).

The Stinger Folding Trailer looks like exactly what I need, but I did not find too many reviews (except the ones form Stinger website).

Did anybody from the forum used it? Let me know if you have any other suggestions.

    Dan

Harbor Freight? ~$350 buys you a decent trailer with just under $2k capacity that weighs in at like 250 lbs dry. Should be fine for towing behind any commuter and enough to carry a single bike with ease. Probably good for 2 bikes.

I have an aluminum Worthington trailer. I acquired it from family who paid considerably more than ~$350 for it. But it is a superb trailer and very easy to tow with.

Electric motors produce peak torque at 0 RPM. AKA towing dream. I loves me my Highlander Hybrid for towing.

I'll second the Harbor Freight rig if you're looking for a budget trailer. Had mine for about 8 years. Not the most well built thing, but far and away the best bang for the buck. Does require you to put some time into it for assembly and set-up though.

Unless you buy the ones that always pop up on here assembled with decking and tie down points, or the occasional wheel chock.

I forget, did yours have the 8, or 12" wheels? Were I spending, I think I'd splurge for the "heavy duty" non-folding one with the 12" wheels. You know, no expense spared.

I have the "heavy duty" non-folding one and it's been great especially considering the price. I got it on sale along with a 25% off coupon for about $275. I put another $150 into it for plywood, dimensional lumber, and hardware. It tows great and weighs around 300lbs as built. Not including the drying time for the polyurethane on the edges of the plywood, it took me around 6 hours to build.

The only issues during assembly were the wheel bearings and the wiring for the lights. The bearings need to be completely cleaned to get rid of the factory grease and then repacked. The light wiring had 2 problems. First is it's not long enough if you route the wiring through the frame rails in order to keep it protected. Second is it expects all the lights to be grounded to the frame which poses a problem because the trailer consists of enameled pieces of steel bolted together (and the tongue is hinged to allow tilting). I ended up running a ground wire to every light.

I got my Kendon single for $700 from a guy on here. I had been looking for one for a while though. I love it so far.
